Port to Chinatown

It's possible to walk from the pier to Chinatown, I would estimate the distance to be about 1 mile, a 20-30 minute walk allowing for traffic signals. I have walked this area (daytime, at night this can be a rough area). You could also take a public bus, The Bus, along Ala Moana Blvd./ Nimitz Highway, getting off a River St. and then a very short walk one block up to king St. where Chinatown begins/ends. It's even less distance if you walk up Smith St. to King, more or less the other end of Chinatown. The other main Chinatown St. is Hotel St., one block above King. The bus cost is $5 for an adult all day pass, which can be used on any route. I'm not sure of the cost of a taxi, but it is a fairly quick trip so it shouldn't be too much. Parking is difficult in this area, so try not to bring a rental car.
