singles cruises for the 28-40 age group

:) I was wondering if anyone could give suggestions re: a good cruise line for singles in the 28-40 age group. My friends and I are 36 year old females (we all could pass for younger) who like to have a great time (scuba, snorkel, dancing, swim, spa, exercise) we even like to have a few drinks, but we are passed the point of wanting to "party till we puke". We were on Carnival when we were in college and it was great for that time in our lives, I think we have since outgrown that atmosphere. When I was married I had went on Princess x 3 and the crowds were fun loving 30's, 40s somethings, (couples only!!!!!!!!!)

Anyway, what do suggest now that I am single again????????????????????????????????????????????

travelnurse,

I'm trying Royal Caribbean this year. I haven't been on a cruise in a long time and I went on Carnival, but again it was when I was like 19. I'm now 32 and single again with a daughter which is one of the reasons why I'm trying Royal, because it seemed a little more upscale, but yet had the kids program for my daughter. Plus it's still affordable as opposed to Princess, Holland and NCL.

Hopefully someone else will chime in for you to get an opinion.

travelingnurse, I hope you get some definitive info on this across cruiselines etc. I did some descriptive stats across three singles cruises all on Carnival and all with the same singles booking company The median and average age was around uh shall we say 45 to 49, but since they had 150 to almost 600 hundred on them there were a LOT of the 28 to 40 age group on them. I notice that same booking agent has a rather 3 or 4 day cruise which actually says 20's and 30's on the announcement. The conventional wisdom of the editors of these web publications is that the shorter cruises have higher percentages of 20s and 30s on them...... your question about 28 to 40 is quite interesting ........people have had time to complete school possibly get a carreer, a FIRST divorce hahahah..........then the other question would be on a 20s and 30s, cruise....A 20 year old and a 39 year old...Those two groups would seem to be a bit different. Like the "already fried" by two many grad school parties and job pressures but with the 20 year olds "hey lets party dudes and dudettes". Hope you get some good information from others. Dear Travelnurse,

I just went on a cruise with RCCL Adventure of the Seas and we had a number of singles on the ship. It was great fun and a great mixture of people. It wasn't the party crowd, like on Carnival. I met some interesting people that were in the 25-55 year range. If u have any questions for me, u can e mail me at daddydagjr@aol.com I just went on the AOS, Feb 27-MArch 6 2005.

I have seen singles on Princess and NCL in the past. I am 38, male, single and sailing on the 9/18/25 Norwegian Star from Seattle to Vancouver,BC. Two years ago I kayaked, hiked, and even snorkeled in Alaska. Contrary to popular belief, the water was not that cold. Water temp was 58F. Two weeks prior, I snorkeled in Southern California in 56F water.

Have you checked with any of the companies that specialize in singles cruises. My friend & I are thinking about booking a singles vacation, not to meet the "love of our lives" but to know it won't be all couples. We're in the same situation you are: 30 something fun loving professionals.

has me a bit worried b/c the cruise we're looking at is on Princess. My thought was Carnival is too young. Although I understand HAL has a fabulous singles program, that's too old so Princess booked through a singles cruise seemed like a good middle ground. Do you think we should nix the idea because of the line? Is it possibel you simply weren't aware of the singles on board b/c you were married?

I am single and 41 and I always enjoy Royal Caribbean. They seem to have a good mixture of age groups, have met alot of people in their 30s on them. I am going on a week long cruise for the first time in August, but friends always tell me that they meet alot of single people on week long cruises.

Hi, my name is James, I am 42 and just got back from the Carnival Glory and had a blast. Met a lot of really great people both single and couples. I have already booked another cruise for May 7, 2006 on the Carnival Miracle and this time I hope to have a group of about 10 to 20 people going who I have told about this last cruise. It is a mixed group of singles and couples and we are just going to get away and have some fun. I have only been on 2 cruises one on Norwegion and the other Carnival but there always seem to be plenty of people to meet and have fun with.

I also like to scuba but no one in my group does, so I would love to have someone to dive with. If you feel like going email me at grawlf@hotmail.com. I think you and your group will enjoy if you decide to go. James

I am single and in my forties. I prefer RCI for the onboard atmosphere, the warm staff and the overall ambience. Adventure of the Seas was great for both the ports and the ship, although Radiance class is my favorite.

I was on Glory a few weeks ago and I thought it was awful! The ship was an overcrowded cattle car, service and food mediocre and the demographic not what I enjoy. I was most definitely a fish out of water. It was smoky and loaded with kids. There was no adult pool and I felt like a sardine all week.

There is a ship and a cruise line for every taste. For me, I like a casually elegant atmosphere and lots of sports and fitness activites to chose from. A Martini and or Wine/Champagne Bar is my choice for a before dinner cocktail and good live music after dinner is my preference. I do not like loud, in your face people or ships.

I want a bit of class with my cruising!

I have neer been on Carnival. But have been on RCCL Navigator and Mariner and also Caribbean Princess. I thought CP was a little too quiet, nice for a couple who want to relax and enjoy each other. I realize I am 51 but just a little to tame. I think if you are single ages 25 - 60 your would enjoy one of RCCL mega ships.

While doing some searching I came across this thread and thought I would revive it.

Any other suggestions on cruises for the 30 ish singles? I am also going through my first divorce and feel like a fish out of water!

I am booked on the carnival miracle for Sept. 18 with my ds, so I will have the opportunity to check the demographics out. I will soon be taking another cruise solo, hopefully on a ship with a nice mix of "grown up" singles. Any suggestions?

I don't think it's so much the cruise line that matters as it is to book with a singles group. Do an online search for singles cruises and check out the many web sites that offer them. This way you have a whole group to hang with of other singles, there are even parent's without partners cruises. Im in my 30's and also look much younger about to do my 2nd singles cruise. See my post for Costa Med December 05 on this board. Join us if you like and put the word out to any other singles male and female.

;) I am in my mid thirties and recently divorced. All of my friends are still married and travel with their spouses. I would like to try a singles cruise and I am wondering which company is the best "host" for the single cruisers. There are so many websites and I am unsure of what group to go with. My concern is that some of the reviews of the singles cruises state that people already know each other and are very much into cliques. Is this true? I want a cruise where I am not the only one who is traveling completely alone. Any suggestions?

BCBound, Travelnurse and ORnurse, consider joining our August 19, 2006 Caribbean Princess Cruise Critic group cruise. You get great group rates (the single supplement is currently 150% instead of 200%) and other amenities, including shipboard credit and a photo voucher.

We'll have a sailaway party and a meet and mingle. There will be an opportunity to share shore excursions and also possibly other activities if the group desires. But you don't have to participate in any group activities that you don't want to and there is no group dining--you dine when you want.

This is a beautiful relatively new ship (2004) which has lots of activities, a fantastic spa, several hottubs, four pools, including two for adults only, and Movies Under the Stars. The ship is sailing the Eastern Caribbean intinerary--St. Thomas, St. Martin, and Princess Cays, the beautiful Princess private island.

My brother and I are on this cruise and, if you want first seating, traditional, you are invited to join us for dinner. We have done this before, sometimes ending up with an entire table of solo cruisers. However, because this is a group cruise, you have the opportunity to "meet" others before you even get onboard and can also find other dining companions, if you prefer other dining times/venues. We also like to participate in lots of activities, including the evening activities like Island Night, 50s night, and 70s night, but we too don't like to party all night. So you could also join us for activities or again, you can meet some other the other cruisers on this cruise through the group and hang out with them. There are three other solo cruisers currently booked and one of the ladies is an older lady looking for a roommate--but she is still very active.

One of the great advantages of going with a Cruise Critic group is that you can easily meet other people to hang out with. It is a great way to experience that first solo cruise because you aren't really cruising "by yourself". But what you do is completely up to you.

If August doesn't work for you we had some singles on the Caribbean Princess group I hosted this year who are going back Dec 3, 2006 on Explorer of the Seas.. We have Floridians who don't want to be gone during Hurricane season and people like me who woudl like to go where we are supposed to go, hence our "Meet the HAC-ers" (aka Hurricane Avoidance Cruisers) name!

Our single rate is pretty good AND with the "Free" Cocktail party, the Royal Caribbean "meet n' mingle' and the cabin party I'm hosting ("Caroline's Treat;)") there will be plenty of opportunities to socialize... This is a good "non children" week to cruise as well since most families do NOT take their children out of school the first week of December.. Anytime I've been on RCI there has been a mix of singles and couples...

For more information follow the links below.. We also get in addition to the Cocktail party, a "free" dinner in teh specialty restaurant and a casino voucher that we will use for our "BIGGEST LOSER" contest...

I'd like to hear about this too-- I'm 41 but since I'm only just finishing my grad degree have not that much in common with people who are more settled. I'm interested in a singles cruise maybe but don't want to find myself "crusied" by sixty-something men, heck it happens enough here in NJ, and i can't blame them for trying, but it's too big a gap for me. I am travelling solo and am independent but don't like to be alone ALL the time. any suggestions???

I'm ideally looking for something in late December or January, I know it's kind of last minute, but will need to recover from a very stressful event.

Hi Sarah~

Just wondering how your cruise went. I have always loved NCL but now that I am 34 AND no longer married I am not sure how well the freestyle thing would work. I would not like to spend the entire cruise by myself. My sister (age 31) and I will be on the HAL Zuiderdam for New Years and I am hoping it isn't too old. She has sailed HAL before and really likes them. I'll have to see how it goes.

Hi, Angela. The cruise itself wasn't bad. I enjoyed travelling alone..was nice not to have to check in with anyone before doing anything or going anywhere...on the flip side of that though...there was no one there to help look after me. Just be real careful if you ever end up sailing solo. Trust no one!!!

New Year's sounds like such a blast!! I wish I could get my sister to cruise, but she had a baby last year and feels like her vacationing days are over....thus, I remain childless!

Am looking to cruise again in late springtime! Maybe I'll see you onboard....???!!

Sarah, Thanks so much for the reply. I haven't been on here for awhile. I do have two daughters (ages 5 & 11) and my New Years cruise will be my first without them. They both took their first trips at one month of age so they travel well, especially on cruises!

I am actually looking at the NCL Jewel in April so maybe we will cross paths at some point.

I am curious about your cryptic reference to safety -- did you have a negative experience? Feel free to email me: eat_breathe_cruise@yahoo.com.

Bye!

Angela

Hello,

I'm in the process of putting together a cruise thru Cruise Critic for September 2006 for Singles. It will be on Carnival Cruise Lines either The Elation Eastern Caribbean or The Triumth Eastern Caribbean. The prices look like they will be between 419 to 449 for inside or 519-to 569 for outside. Once I know more I will post again.

Thanks,

Bob
