Extra gratuities for Cabin Steward- what do you usually leave?

Exactly.

Other than making up the room & cleaning, it's about the only thing we except from the steward.

Other than a few extra hangers & 2 patters no extras are asked for or expected.

I know about an old lady who tipped her cabin steward $10 because he unpacked all her clothes and put them neatly in the cupboard

On a 10 day cruise I usually will tip the steward $50 the first day I meet him and ask the following:

• 6 pool towels per day. We usually go to the pool during the day, the spa before dinner and also like to use them to shower with
  
• Ice in the bucket at all times
  
• 2 patters
  
• Most importantly - whatever my wife wants....Happy wife, happy life.
  

I explain that I have prepaid the auto gratuities and if everything is good I will tip more at the end of the trip. I am a big believer in big tipping and never mind tipping a lot.

I love this idea and your requests. Thanks for sharing. I understand that tipping is personal but having no experience, I really appreciate reading all the suggestions. Next week we are doing exactly this.

I think that Auto Tips is what is expected. If someone stands out.....I will recognize that special service. There are so many crew who stand out! I love them and they love the recognition. I don’t use tips as a bribe.
