Isn't this very similar to the Disney Magic Bands? (Magic Bands are used for your purchases, tickets, fast passes, opens your room door, photo pass photos, etc.)

Yes, and that is why ex-Disney people were contracted to implement the *****.

It looks very similar to the magic bands. I’m from Florida go to Disney a lot it really is an easy to use system. I would imagine would be good for cruises too cause the bands are water proof, stay on well, and easy to use. Disney has extra slides that denote if your a annual pass holder or vacation club member. Would think the cruise lines could do similar for loyalty levels.

For Caribbean Princess they are being handed out at check in right now. That will be changing soon and they will be mailed to your home. Just not yet.

Are you able to use the medallion or embarking and disembarking?

I thought I read one post that said both the medallion and card were being scanned.

Thanks.

Supposedly once the kinks are worked out of the system the OMs will be color coded with Captain's Circle status.

They have both been scanned during the testing phase to be sure the ***** system was working properly. Once fully implemented, the ***** by itself should be the only thing scanned unless you chose to have a cruise card instead of an *****.

Yes. I was asking about specific progress on Caribbean Princess, hoping one of the folks

on board would provide an update.

::nods::

Somewhere on YouTube there is a video of Jan Swartz saying that was the plan,

and more recently I've seen displays that have a row of Medallions across the

bottom with the blue background replaced with each of the Capt. Circle's colors.

I just got off the CB on Tuesday.

At embarkation we were given an ***** and a card in a lanyard by the folks in the terminal. Upon boarding there's a flat black panel with the ***** symbol. It's lit up blue. You put your card on it (not your *****) and it turns green. Then there's another person with the handheld reader and you hold up your CARD and it scans it. So, everything getting on and off is redundant. This happened at every single port off and on and during Disembarkation.

There are folks set up outside of Club Fusion with a "desk" that has displays with what you can put your Medallion in but none were for sale yet. There was also a display case in glass. It's magnetic so they're all designed to fit in the accessories.

As of Tuesday, the ***** opened your cabin door. First time it struggled, then it recognized you 2 or 3 cabins away. The ONLY place today where you can use the ***** is your cabin, bars, shops, casino.

It is not yet to the point where it recognizes you with the tablets the bartenders will have or knows your drink order.

The display case had sports bands, pretty silver bands, necklaces, clips and a plastic case that had Gold, Ruby, Platinum and Elite in the correct colors. I was told the level OMs were $7.95/ea. The necklace was $69 something and there was also a charge for the other stuff but I don't remember what it was. I took some pictures and will try and post but prices were not next to the items. They were giving away free T-shirts to anyone who asked since they couldn't sell stuff yet.

So, I was told the "Status" OMs would have a charge of $7.95. Maybe not if Jan said so... I didn't see that video. And, of course, the folks at the desk can only tell you what they are told.

I didn't notice until I got home and popped my ***** out of the plastic case that it actually had my name on it and the ship and sail date. So I stuck it on the fridge as any normal person would do. :D

The ***** screen at the door has an avatar which is just generic now but I assume it will have your picture when fully operational... to show who is entering the cabin.

I really don't know if this is scary or not for me...

The first time I went into the casino on a slot machine it said... Welcome Back... so they know everything you are doing now like it or not.

Did you select "Safety Only" in your ***** Profile?

By the time I get on a ship with the medallion I guess mine will (finally!) be black. Obviously I don't expect to sail on a medallion enabled ship any time soon. ;p

It took, what, two weeks(?) to roll ***** out on Caribbean once they thought ***** was (finally) ready. Let's

see how long it takes on Regal once she gets back to Florida waters and if they happen to slip another

ship in while they wait for her.

But then, getting me from Gold to Black before I get on Regal next spring would be *nice*.

All decks are carrying Medallions. They open the cabin doors and you can pay with it. But there are bunches of features that haven't been activated yet.

Yup. In the military, that's called IOC (initial operational capability), and is the level at which

I would expect fleetwide deployment to begin.

AIUI, the rest of the features will be a matter of downloading software patches, much like when

a "Windows Feature Update" added the Windows Ink app.

Really, that would PROVE my point that they are tracking me like a puppy and time to leave Princess.

They will be tracking people. An officer explained to me that they have installed some type of devices ( they look like smoke detectors) though out the ship to do just that, for marketing and emergencies. I was told this but don’t take it to the bank.

Princess has promised to not let Marketing take a peek if you check "Safety Only" in your ***** profile.

And every time they do a major update something else seems to get messed up.
