Shorex in Southampton

Will be on a TA on QM2 from NYC to Southampton. Perplexed by shore excursions offered in VP. Offers me a full selection of things I can book in Southampton but there is a note that says shorex shouldn’t be booked by disembarking passengers? Our hope was to visit Windsor Castle or Stonehenge through Cunard and get dropped off after in London where we’ll be staying a few days. Is that doable?

The excursions are for in transit passengers only. So sorry, you will have to make your own arrangements. I am sure others on here will be able to help with suggestions.

Ok. Thanks. Odd that the VP shows the excursions. One would assume it knows this is where the cruise ends!

Some passengers (including me) will book a round trip crossing as two separate voyages. In cases like that, the shore excursions shown in VP for the end of the first voyage would apply for those who are continuing on to the next voyage.

Good point. Still, wouldn’t the VP know I’ve only booked one cruise? Seems like a low tech site but regardless, thanks for the answer.

You could rent a car in Southampton and drive to Stonehenge, Salisbury and Windsor, before dropping the car at Heathrow (or London if you are brave enough).;p

Hmmm... Not overly excited about driving on the wrong side of the road. ;-) Think I’ll look to hiring a driver.

You would think the VP would know you haven't booked the follow-on voyage. But while the VP does some things well, one thing it doesn't do well is being able to know about all the cruises you have booked from a single login. You've probably noticed you need to enter a specific booking reference number to log in to the VP. Once logged in, the VP only knows about the one voyage for that particular booking reference number. There is no way to see other bookings you may have without logging out of the VP and logging back in with the booking reference numbers for those other bookings. Other cruise lines do a better job in that regard, allowing you to log in with a user name and password to see all your bookings at one time.
