Angra do Heroismo, Azores

We are sailing on a T/A voyage on the Prinsendam and will be docking at Praia Di Vitora on the island of Terceira. This is our first visit to the Azores and we would like to visit the town of Angra do Heroismo. Our ship is to be docked on November 1st (All Saints Day) from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Does anyone have any experience with travel from the dock to Angra? We were considering a taxi but would also be interested in an excursion that would take half a day but I haven't been able to find one that would give us some time to explore Angra.Suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.
