The Ocean Medallion Program is a big failure, still not working right and still in beta/testing phase.

I am on the cruise before you and i am very disappointed on how our cruise is now a Ocean Medallion Preivew cruise instead of the a Ocean Medallion vacation like how it was advised when i booked.

Why are only certain staterooms connected to the Ocean Medallion Program?

***** is leading-edge technology (aka "bleeding-edge"). They installed ***** in 110 staterooms on

Regal to see if there were any unexpected surprises, and they found a big one.

Rumor-grade info is that they haven't been able to find the sweet spot between "your cabin door

unlocks as you pass your floor in the elevator" and "your cabin door doesn't unlock when you're

standing in front of it".

Additional rumor is the Caribbean will sail full-up ***** on Aug 4th.

YMMV

Understand there's really not much to be disappointed in. ***** is for the benefit of ship operations

with lots of hype and fluff added so we'll wear the medallions. Is it *really* that important that

your chosen avatar will pop up on a wall screen as you walk past?

The Ocean Medallion is still in the development stage, so it is being tested in a limited number of staterooms as an experimental program. Princess is still working on making the Ocean Medallion program available to all ships and all staterooms. In the meantime, your cruise card works just fine to unlock the door, pay for beverages, and so forth.

Many hotels now offer iPhone "keys" that can unlock your door. All seem to work well for me.

It isn't the door-won't-open issue that is the problem. It's the door-unlocks-when-you're-in-the-

elevator-on-your-way-from-the-Casino-to-the-Lido-buffet issue that seems to be the problem.

I am sailing on the Regal Princess on November 1, 2018...It is a repositioning cruise from NYC....Does that mean the ***** will be in full swing on the cruise that i am taking?

Doubtful. They will probably not try to make it work on the Regal until the ship gets back to Florida and the workers assigned to the implementing the ***** can be back on the ship again.

I doubt that you will have ***** up and running on November 1st. We are sailing on December 16th on the Regal and the designation of that cruise has changed from, "Ocean Medallion Vacation" to "Ocean Medallion Preview." Disappointing? It would have been nice to see it work, but I can be tempted by unlimited internet...

Expect to get offered unlimited-minutes internet-at-sea.

Regal already has the equipment to connect to the high-bandwidth satellites (it's different

equipment than the stuff that ***** relies upon), and those satellites are in range when she

is in the Caribbean Sea.

Likely the offers are already up in Personalizer. Emerald got the satellite-tracking hardware

in June, and she is offering unlimited-minutes plans for our voyage in December. Just

remember that most unlimited-minutes plans have other limitations. Double-check exactly

what you get with the one you want to sign up with.

The high speed Internet is of much more benefit than the *****. Fortunately it works great unless you are far north or south ... eventually they will fix this. It is not connected to the ***** problem at all but many are conflating the two. The ***** was sold before it was invented to Carnival Corp. and Princess at first felt lucky to be picked to debut it...a guy from Disney World was hired because they someway convinced upper management that we wanted “a personal experience”. This is all in a video from last Fall that is posted on line in one of these threads in a sales conversation between Jan and the Disney guy (unless they have taken it down..rather amusing to watch in light of subsequent events). In direct answer to #10 above. No
