Price reduced

it pays to keep checking prices. Our cruise on the Grand went down. At first my casino rate was lower, but then the resident rate came out that reduced our price by a little over $200. Now I’m waiting to find out my room assignment. We leave in December so it may be a while before I find out.

Sound advice for sure.....:):):)

I keep checking our Northern Lights cruise to see if it will go down but no such luck. We actually downgraded our cabin on that one. Prices weren't cheap on it to begin with and they have gone way up. I noticed today that out cruise this November is now under a new promo and we could upgrade cabins for almost nothing or rebook our existing cabin for savings but then I remembered we have free flights and free gratuities on that one. Nope. Not going to change. I agree it's always a good idea to keep an eye on pricing. In the past we had someone on a roll call mention a huge price drop so I immediately checked and saved hundreds of dollars. Some cruises will get price drops but there are always some that will never go down (such as our Northern Lights cruise) and just go up instead. Even if the price does go way up it really just means that you "won" anyway because you booked at a much lower price.

It doesnt pay to check prices in UK as you cannot change the fare to the new price. The only option we have is cancel the original booking lose your deposit and hope that when you rebook it is cheaper if it isnt then ther eis not a thing you can do about it only get ripped off. That is why and I recommend anyone else booking a Princess cruise in the UK is wait until close to sail date when prices go down from their usual high prices.

I can see your thinking but, then again, I have booked a number of cruises a year and a half in advance and then watched as the prices soared.

It's for Mexico, but there is California resident pricing for two of the Hawaii cruises. I think it was Nov/Dec 2018 time frame, out of San Pedro and San Francisco.

Thanks, I’ve been watching the Hawaii in April on the Grand

I have 3 cruises booked and all of them have gone up, even when it said, sale! I check prices frequently and after initially receiving a drop on my New England re-positioning cruise now the price is back up.

How does one get to see CA res rates?

Daughter is a CA res.

When I log into the Princess website, the rates just come up. I did a search for Mexico and Hawaii. Not all of the dates have the resident rates. They started showing up for me about three days ago.

What’s great is they gave me the resident rate off my casino rate. So we scored! I can’t believe we are only paying a little over $1500 for two on a ten day, it’s ocean view right now. Maybe I’ll luck out with a balcony.

It's not a popular sailing, being that it falls between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Fingers crossed for you. :)

That's incredible! Which ship and departure port?

Perhaps they do in US but Princess cruises sailing from Southampton always start very high and always decrease as you get closer to the sail date. Luckily you can book many cruises a year and a half in advance and then if price reduces you can get a refare or cancel and not lose your deposit unfortunately we cannot do this in UK once you have booked the price you agree is fixed and no refares possible our only option is to book at new price and lose our deposit on original booking. I would prefer to wait and see what happens with price and then if it drops then book without having to lose my deposit. If cruise doesnt drop in price or go higher, which very rarely happens when sailing from Southampton , then thats the gamble I take and just dont book with Princess and choose another cruise line.

I booked a transatlantic trip for the fall including airfare. Checked the site two weeks later. The cruise dropped 100. Each but the airfare dropped 300. Each. We rebooked and not only got same flights but new booking included gratuities for 367. Each. Overall now saved over 1500. Total. So we blew 130. On upgrading our seats on the flight to Europe:):):):) so keep on checking

I book most of my land and river cruises last minute do to losing tooo many non-refundable deposits thru the years. But then with that late booking that darn airfare hits me....I'll never forget how a vendor in 2008 would do nothing for me, after a trip dropped 1500USD pp...however...that land/river cruise trip to Russia still ranks as one of my favorites so it truly was priceless.

Think of all the hours this saves you, by not having to spend time and effort getting price reductions.....just sayin'

From talking to UK cruisers I understand that often some of these non-refundable trips come with "mandatory" insurance, air, drink packages and hotel stays that can be priced attractively.

And yes, cruises with many sail dates, drop on the US site all the time...however Princess now is throwing in perks to get us to book months out at higher pricing.....and "last minute" recently as mentioned on this thread some booking deposits are nonrefundable.

Enjoy....

Dont know who told you that information but it is incorrect. All holiday bookings in UK whether cruise or with land based companies the deposit is non refundable however far in advance you book that is the law and you are recommended when taking out a booking to purchase travel/health insurance to cover eventualities but is never included in the price. If you are sailing from and returning to Southampton then no air travel is needed but if your cruise is in Europe more often than not the cruise fare includes air fare but strangely enough Princess advertise in their brochure in the UK cruise price only and you have to add air fare which if they arrange is very expensive. One thing that is a definite is we never get Sip n Sail offers in the UK from Princess and never get "free drinks packages"and very few if any perks at all to book in advance with Princess.

Thanks for answering and informing me as I sail often with people from the UK. So do u think some of the UK people I have talked to on cruises got deals/a package thru a travel agency? They have had beer/wine packages that we in the US don't have available to us. Just curious?

It's just been the last few years that Princess offered the sip & sail and other promos ..it's not like they have been around forever.
