Count Down to Pacific Pearl

Recommended Posts

Captain Box was saying the other night that she is presently a very popular ship with generous sized cabins and, of course, a big entertainment venue at the top of the ship like the Dawn's dome.

Which I suspect P&O will turn in to a Spa area.

The pearl is another older ship as per the norm for P&O australia , but in saying that I would have to say from what I have read and seen she will be a very nice cruise ship and be highly welcomed once she graces our waters,

Not according to any of the deck plans. We are sailing on this ship in feb and we are very excited about a dome like area. I cant see them changing it.

The wouldnt dare turn it into a spa...

I hope:eek::eek:.....

It is a fabulous space and all set up to be used a night club.

We enjoyed many late night shows there when she was Arcadia.

:) From what I've heard it will remain what it is now, an well appointed observation lounge by day and a night club by night, with a fantastic walk around panoramic deck (great for sailaways and arrivals!). I remember an English CC member kindly posted some pictures in a previous thread, but I can't find it now to give you the link, sorry.

I shouldn't think they would! Capt B was saying how she's a much-loved ship which was like the Dawn in having a big entertainment area. I think, after all the protests from Sydneysiders, they wouldn't dare. Besides it would cost heaps of money to add and they already have a spa below. Likewise, with the Jewel - the spa was already there and too costly to change. These are my feelings anyhow. Hope I'm right! :rolleyes:

Best ship ever.. Ok so I'm biased but not many have wrap-around deck 14s nowadays, from front to back the full circuit. My favourite vantage point on arrival and departure in front of the Dome.

1 Month and 14 days to go... I'll get some internal shots this time for you.. Any requests?

The word is because the cinema is going to make way for the Casino, that they will be putting a large outdoor screen on the top deck in the same fashion as the Movies Under The Stars (MUTS) on some of the Princess ships. Also the Spa area on the lower deck is getting changed around to give it more space, so I doubt they would then turn around and change the Spa to the Dome.

I di think she will a great add on to the P&O australia fleet.

Yes, we are really looking forward to her joining the P&O NZ fleet (will nearly be a big as our Navy fleet) and are happy to loan her to Australia for a few months each year.:D

  • 1 month later...

For those who don’t get the P&O Cruises Sail Away magazine, on the back cover of the latest issues (Winter 2010) it has the date and time of the Pacific Pearl naming ceremony!, which is the 21st Dec 2010 from 5 pm till 9.45pm at Queens Wharf Auckland.
