Do you think P and O in there upgrade of the OV2 will put in a night club or something similar as it is an attraction for people aged from 18-30 ish as it is also a main attraction for the people who are night owls and cant sleep?

Also I am not being mean about the age thing sorry if I offended anyone

Hi Drelix,

I'm sure you haven't offended anyone. :) Peter and I don't go to the nightclub when we are on a ship, but lots of others do. I think a nightclub would be a better use of the space than using the dome as a spa. P & O will see how much money the area generates as a spa. Maybe they will change it in the ship's next re-fit, but that would be down the track a fair bit. :)

Unfortunately. looking through all of the brochures it appears that it is quite set in stone. As far as their advertising for a large(st) gym/spa thing at sea... I think that was what one of the main things the dawn had that was its own "special" thing.

I am sure either way the equivalent of the dome will be of the same layout/style as they would obviously know how much it means to people as a place to have fun, etc. Who knows, maybe when it has that week or so break before starting in Aust they may relocate it? Personally I see it as a waste having a gym/spa up there but each to their own.

It would be itneresting to find out when P&O will you know give a full, complete profile of the ship with confirmed location of venues etc. Yes it is still far away but for those who are a) booked on a cruise or b) suffering something bad from the cruise bug alot of people would like to know :)

I dunno what bar it was but there is one currently on the OV2 that has these round pods in the wall, they look pretty cool!

The Jewel is aimed towards the younger persons i read somewhere... so maybe the will.

Personally, i really liked the dome however, the ships are virtually the same so it would kind of be identical to the dawn if it had the dome. Get my drift? I could live with it not being there but yeah who knows how set in stone the deck plans are atm?

I did read somewhere on the forums there is a space at the front of deck 11? something called an attic or something

The deck plans/names are already on the P&O AUS website. http://pocruises.com.au/html/dplan_pacific_jewel.cfm

Was recently onboard her and they have said very little changes will be made. They want to make more money out of her for her remaining 5-10 years in service. (By which she'll be 30 years old!).

The reason given by Carnival to move the ships was because they had done research and could make more money out of the Australian cruises, especially as more people would go to the waste of space dome area that is currently the SPA. I guess Australians must like pampering themselves more?

There is no Nightclub onboard, the bar in the casino (which they have renamed on the plans as Legends?! ) doubles as a late bar with music. There was talk that the Bistro Restaurant on deck 11 would be converted but the new plans show it still there. The only thing missing is the teens area above it on deck 12 at the back of the dome which is shown as a blank area..

P & O was originally going to base the Pacific Jewel in Brisbane, but in March they announced that she would be going to Sydney, and the Pacific Dawn would be relocated to Brisbane. The reason given is that their research shows that the cruisers out of Sydney would be more interested in (read that as - prepared to spend money on) the spa and all its associated facilities.

I don't know how it will go. The general feeling I get is that people think using the dome area as a spa is a waste of good space. :)

Thank you for the information!

Quick question - on deck 11 the "Club Lounge" is that currently on the OV2 if so do you have any photos or can you describe it a little bit?

Just did some extra research it appears that currently you pay per day to gain entry... maybe P&O will use this as a replacement for "The Dome"??

On principle I don't like the user pays when we have already paid a cruise fare. I don't like the idea of paying to use the Oasis on the Pacific Sun. We had a look on embarkation day when it was free, but otherwise won't use it. If everyone else does the same, the rules will have to change. :D:D Yeah, hopeful, I know. :D

The Club lounge on both ships (Jewel and Pearl) is basically the old Captains day room. It has a capacity of around 30 people and is currently on an invitation only basis first-come first-served basis and only offered to the suites and then the balcony cabins on deck 11. Once 30 have signed up thats it for the cruise.

For a fixed amount per day you can take breakfast in there, get free internet access from in there, free alcoholic drinks in the evening, other drinks in the day, afternoon tea and associated nibbles etc..

has anyone tried to contact P&O? Calling will probably get no where but perhaps a letter would work? I don't have an issue trying but not until the semester is over... or atleast find out when they will let us know whats happening? I am sure there will be something but given we don't know much its a bit... exciting/confusing/insert-right-word-here.

The SPA covers not only the dome but they also cut through the deck to extend down into deck 12 behind the bridge.

http://www.oceanvillageholidays.co.uk/ovhspa2/spa_floorplan.htm#

You can click on the individual rooms to show whats in it, all the baths, saunas, solariums etc are on deck 12.

Thank you again for the help.

Evon, perhaps CC'ers can request a private function in there for meet and greets? Although that may be pushing our hospitality...

Wow that is an amazing spa area! I don't think i've seen anything like that before. There are so many different options being offered. I probably won't use it but it looks great (i'm a devoted fan of the Dome ;).)

And we all get together in the sauna? Could be interesting. :):)

I actually meant the Club Lounge but the Sauna would be a good idea...although dunno how drinks would go in there.... glasses would probably break from hot/cold temperatures clashing

That bar with the pods in the wall does look cool..it's either Connexions or the Casbah Bar, which are the Bengal Bar and Promenade Bar on Pacific Dawn - but will seem heaps different without the side walls to divide them off the passage. I quite like the look of the decor in these bars on OV2.

Currently "the Attic" is the teen centre on OV2 - but on the Jewel deck plans, they show HQ as being on Deck 2, so it's possible the Attic space might be the night club. On Pacific Dawn it would be the area above the pizzeria, and it extends partly into the dome area.

Anyway, half the fun of finding out what is going where is in the antici...........................................pation. :D But I'm really looking forward to Jewel arriving so all our questions can be answered!

I couldn't see one either. I would assume there would be one though. They would be silly not to. Australians love to dance and have fun! :D:cool:

So do some Brits! (well we must have the same gene pool! ) :D

There is a bit of dance floor in the sunken area of what is now going to be called Legends and there is a DJ booth next to it, although the DJ said he keeps getting told by the Casino staff to lower the volume!

Silly place.

Anyhow it means you will love the Pearl, OV1 as the whole Dome is the Nightclub Bayside. http://www.oceanvillageholidays.co.uk/vtour.aspx?ID=3124 you'll just have to wait another year!!

I emailed P and O about night club and this is what i got if it helps

Thankyou for your enquiry.

The Pacific Jewell will definitely have a late night bar operating each evening. Although it wont be technically called a nightclub, the bar/lounge area will have dj's and live music on until the early hours of the morning. Plenty of party times to be had. Hope this has answered your question!

Thanks for taking the time to email. Do you know which part the night club is though?

Nope. I dont think it will be like a night club like the PD(Pacific Dawn) the impression I got from that email was something PS (pacific Sun).

where its like a small room where they play music sort of thing.

Also time can change and apprently p and o staff dont know much from pervious posts.

Time will tell
