Where on the ship is the November NCL Poker Challenge held on the Escape?

Recommended Posts

I'll take, "In the casino for $500 Bob".

Are you sure about that? On every other cruise when they have a special poker event it's in a separate event room. You usually can't start bringing in 40 poker tables into an already crowded casino.

No where do I see where 40 tables would be required $1,100 entry fee

It's capped at 400 entries and always sells out. At 10 players per table you'll need 40 poker tables.

It was in the Bliss lounge when they ran this tournament on the NCL Gem.

It will be in the Skyline lounge. This unfortunately is going to make a lot of people unhappy as the lounge is a very popular place at night. It will be shut down for the week for the poker tournaments. Probably 30 tables like last year. 400 people in the main event split over 2 sessions. 4 other tournaments including a new $2500 high roller event this year. I hope to see at least 100 in this one.

Good luck to all who are going, see you there.

I am looking to purchase a 2018 NCL Poker Challenge package if anyone has one available. The deadline to transfer them is Aug 31st this year. Please let me know if you are looking to sell yours.

Thank you!

This guy just posted on main page that he has one for sale..

Sorry rtkenmore, that is an incorrect answer. We’ll deduct $500 from your onboard account.

They will have a separate event space. When we were on the Epic, it was in the Bliss. Skyline seems too small.

ladyluck,

Ok thanks. That's more than I would be willing to pay. You'r best bet is to sell online next summer (BayE), I've seen a few packages get close to your asking price. Others go for much less though, so it's really timing and supply and demand. Best of luck.

Out of curiosity, where did you get the values of $1,700 for cruise and $1,200 for Main Event entry? NCL values the package at $2,200 during the satellite tournaments (the total prize pool has to exceed $2,200 after their 25% rake, to qualify for the first prize of the cruise/entry). The Main Event entry is $1,100 if paid in cash, which would leave a value of $1,100 for the cruise for two. (Cruise prices fluctuate obviously, and current cruise prices start at $699 pp for inside.)

I just went to look at the December 1 Getaway cruise and saw that the free at sea option is not available for that cruise. I hope this changes as this will make an awful lot of people very angry with NCL. NCL has something very good here with the poker challenge and if the free at sea is taken away it will surely turn people away from NCL, myself included. Very sneaky also. You win a voucher and go to book your cruise only to find out that now drinks(with NCL drink prices now it can easily be well over $1000 for 2) are not included, very sneaky.

It is almost as if NCL is treating this cruise as a charter where the free at sea option is not available.

It's there, I just checked.

I am looking right now and it only says "free onboard spend" for the Dec 1st and Dec 8th cruises, now "free at sea". Again, I hope this changes.

I did a mock booking and it shows the free at sea choices. The page you're looking at is just missing the words. I'm sure it'll be fixed, but the important part is that the promotion is in effect.

https://www.ncl.com/pokerchallenge Here's a link to 2018 Challenge.. I'm sure a good time was had by all..

They didn't publish the blind structure online this year.

This year's event had a lot of issues, it was not run that well.  Hopefully they will learn from it and improve going forward.

Sorry to hear that. This Tournament has a lot of potential if it's run correctly.

The actual Main Event was fine.  Other tournaments were postponed to later in the week due to low registration.  Communication was very poor.  Cash games had issues as well with the scheduling, seating, etc.

One major issue that friends experienced was the lack of the casino drink card this year for Main Event players.  Apparently if you did not win your entry, you did not get the drink card.  Friends purchased the poker package and did not get the drink card (they did get it last year), and did not select the UPB as their perk.  No straight answers from management on why the change and why was it not communicated previously.

Who ran the Main Event, Provide  dealers, run cash games, and other tournaments ? CAS or was an outside company hired to run everything ?

It's handled by CAS.  And they allow the managers on the host ship to run things.  So it's someone new each year, and they don't learn from past issues.
