Which Hotel For Bangkok?

We are thinking of staying at either the Mercure Bangkok Siam Hotel or the Eastin Grand Hotel Sathorn in Bangkok. Has anyone stayed at either of these hotels? Are they in a good location? Any suggestions for another good hotel?

We have stayed at the Novatel Ploenchit, the Renaissance on Ploenchit (block or two away) and the Vie Hotel (across the bridge from Siam Square). Easton Sathorn was on our short list as another good one but we did not end up staying there.

They were all good. Marriott was on points. The Novatel and Vie were booked on the Accor Hotels website. Not sure if it was an Accor members special or not but we got a very attractive offer for prepaying a three day stay that included a fabulous breakfast. These locations were all good. Close to rapid transit and close to a canal where we could take advantage of canal boats that the locals used for transport.

We have also stayed at a few airport hotels for early flights at both airports.

Not certain when you are going but just be mindful of Chinese New Year in Feb. Hotels book up quickly and rates increase for this time as you get closer to the date. We recently booked a Jan hotel stay in Singapore on Accor's black Friday sale. It was a very attractive offer. As I recall Accor sometimes does a similar sale around the Boxing Day time frame.

Thank you for all the information. The hotel's you suggested also seem good. My only question is did the shower/bathroom have a way to cover the glass wall/door in the Novatel Ploenchit Hotel?

We are also looking at hotels in Singapore and Hong Kong. Which hotel in Singapore did you book? What areas are good to stay in Singapore and in Hong Kong?

We travel frequently. I cannot remember what the shower at the Novatel Ploenchit was like. I only know that it did not have an issue with it. The room was very nice. The breakfast buffet was superb. Very nice rooftop pool.

We booked Ibis Bencoolen in Singapore. It had a good report on tripadvisor. Accor hotels had a Black Friday sale so we booked an attractive offer. We have stayed in Ibis properties in other cities.

Cannot help with Hong Kong. Our info is well out of date.

We always use the Asia Hotel in Bangkok. It is mid range but very clean and comfortable with good dining and recreation facilities. It is directly connected to a Sky Train station which makes transportation so much easier and quicker than taxis.

The popular MBK shopping centre is within walking distance. It is also the normal drop off and pick up point for cruise passengers coming down from the cruise port of Laem Chabang.
