Conquest or Magic smoking in casino.

We have just returned from an 8 day cruise on Carnival Vista. We have only been on Carnival once before. There were NO non-smoking areas in the casino so after two days we quit going in as we couldn't handle the smoke. I would like to know if this is the same on the Carnival Conquest and Carnival Magic as I have those booked with friends.

I was on the Magic last year. The casino was filled with passengers using the Casino as a smoking lounge. One night, I counted 80 smokers standing around in groups.

Carnival doesn't enforce their policy that you can only smoke when playing a slot machine. It was so bad that we didn't gamble, but had to go through the Casino after the show in the Theater . All the non smokers had the same experience and avoided the Casino. You would think that Carnival would correct the problem as smokers on the ship is down to 5% and going down as the smoker population are dying from their smoking habit.

I'll disagree that there were no Non-Smoking areas or machines. In fact, I have seen them and I was politely asked to remove myself from a non-smoking area in the Vista casino when I was smoking.

Now, granted, the signage is bad and it's not like the drifting smoke stays away from the non smoking area, but to say that there are "No Non-Smoking" areas is misinformed at best, a lie at worst, or an alternative fact if Republican. (last parts a joke)

I'm not aware of a Carnival policy that states you can only smoke in the Casino if you're playing the slot machines. Why would they put ashtrays on the smoking side of the bar and advertise the Casino as one of 3 smoking areas? Has anyone else ever heard of this policy? Curious.

It really does bother me that non-gamblers come into the casino and post up smoking. The way I see it, this issue is a symptom of not enough indoor spaces for smoking. I quit smoking recently for vanity reasons but it is sad that they get such a bad rap and are discriminated against.

I'll agree. I recently quit.

Back in Feb, on the Vista, I was still smoking.

On Embarkation day, since they were refueling, the only place to smoke was in the casino. When I walked in, I said "damnnnn". It was disgusting. This coming from a smoker.

Now, I'm an ex smoker.

As long as it's still legal, then smokers still have the right. No, smokers don't need to be relegated to outside only. However, if inside, then ensure the ventilation can properly do it's job.

I long for the day Carnival bans smoking throughout the whole ship. It's a practice that offends too many people in public areas to let it continue, and the only logical solution IMO is to ban it completely. Smokers can light up while in port.

Been on Conquest and Glory each twice. There are only a handful of nonsmoking machines but that doesn't keep smokers off of them. The nice thing about the Conquest class is there is a nonsmoking side of the bar and nonsmoking seating along the walkway through the casino. I was very surprised that they used that seating area on the Glory last month for trivia as it is still somewhat smoky. They were testing something to suck up the smoke on those ships last year. I found them less smoky than the Pride. I was hoping that the Vista being new that they would have a better ventilation system. I don't smoke but after a week in the casino my lungs hurt like I've been smoking for years.

I usually sail on the Pride and I always book a room towards the back of the ship. So when I want to go to the Taj Mahal, Comedy Club or anything else in the front of the ship on level two or three, I remember this rule when riding down the elevator, level 2 to walk through and smell like poo or level 3 for smoke free. I never want to walk through that stench of cigarette smoke, and stink for the rest of the night, especially right after a shower.

Good thing your opinion doesn't matter!
