Okay... but what about the charge. Was it authorized?
We have coverage via our CC, it's automatically included at no extra "charge" when used to pay for the booking ... not on this Gem sailing but procedures & claim forms, etc. are available, 24/7/365 global assistance is a toll-free call anywhere. For some, no authorization or enrollment to opt-in necessary, it is covered as a secondary, within limits and possibly only partial reimbursement, up to the its defined limits.

Not all cards offer it, another of our CC discontinued its coverage and with AE Gold/Optima, it's optional and/or opt-in at a nominal fee.

For example - this is from Citi's AT&T Universal Card, as charter member going back to the 1980's in PDF format

What a great informative post by Wizpharm2. I am sure I am not the only one who would like more details about the private cruise back to NYC. I also loved the fact they kept the Casino open for the 30ish guests.

Seems like those managed to stay on board got the best deal out of the fiasco. For those who had fly the charter back, especially those who didn't wish to fly, do they also only get 25% future cruise credit?

Yes, everyone got the 25% future cruise credit

That 25% doesn't amount to much, corporate says it's 25% of the voyage portion. So since I stayed in a balcony with my wife it works out to be $404 off a future cruise even though the total price tag was much higher than $1616

The way the letter was written they didn't state "Voyage Fare"...

I was on the 11/21 sailing and asked the chief engineer what happened to the azipod.

He said the windings.

Same problem with the star.

Luckily they had a repair kit in Finland (?) And flew it to Barbados to fix.

He said in the future, ncl will have the kit in their Miami hq.

  • 1 month later...

Gotta give credit where it is due.

I submitted some extra costs relating to this trip. I had some recpts, and i approximated costs for some foods while waiting in airport(no recpts), NCL just emailed me that they would reimburse all costs. I think that's fair, not a large check but accurate, petty cash costs.

You know what they say "pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered"

Glad that they will reimburse you.

We were on the Grandeur of the Seas (RCL) jan 2nd cruise. Guess what broke. They flew a guy and the part on a charter to port Canaveral, only two day delay.
