Carnival Victory Review Oct. 16th cruise

Well, let me just say that for a first time cruiser, that was a rough ride. LOL We were sent to Gran Turk instead of Freeport and Nassau and the extra sea day I think kicked a lot of peoples butt. The Victory had me worried with all the negative reviews that I had read, but rest assured, she is as beautiful and clean as can be. There was no foul smell at anytime that we were aware of. We had FTTF and it paid for itself time and again during the cruise. The crew was very friendly and always helped in anyway they could when asked. Our state room was 7431 Aft Balcony that was great. So much room and was very private. The only problem we had was that they were doing work just below our cabin and had grinders, saws , hammers and drills, etc. running until 5am. A call to guest services only got ear plugs but after stopping by and talking with Katarina we were compensated for the inconvenience and the issue was taking care of.

We had all of our dinner meals in MDR and it was fantastic. Both the food and service was great. Is the food five star? No, but if you want that then you have to go somewhere else. Remember you are not paying for that. All the staff except for one person had an upbeat attitude and made you feel very welcome. They remember your name if you interacted with them.

If you are concerned about the ship, don't be. Go in with the attitude that you are on a cruise and nothing will upset you and this trip will work for you. I truly believe that if you have issues , Carnival will make amends to make it right for you.

Already planning trip number 2. Happy cruising to you all.:)

We are staying in cabin 6465 (aft facing balcony) in January. Sounds like the work will be done by then.

Questions:

Was your floor upgraded? (flat screen TVs and the upgraded bathroom?)

Do you have any photos? Especially of your cabin and balcony area.

Thanks!

Nice, thanks!

How much of deck 6 balcony could you see if you were standing at your railing? I don't have a feel for how steep the angle is on the back of the ship. I'm wondering how private our balcony will be from the deck 7 cruisers above us

If you are sitting in your chairs with them push back to the window you can not be seen. If looking down on your deck I could see half of the deck area.

Thanks for the review! I'll be sailing on the Victory on my very first cruise next month. The negative reviews made me nervous at first, but with this being my first cruise, I have no expectations. :) So I plan to go in with a good attitude no matter what. Glad you had a great time!

You will love the ship, it is very clean and looks even better. Hope your sailing days are smoother than ours. LOL I would recommend the patch as it kept both of us from feeling ill at all. Seasoned cruisers were feeling the effect during our cruise. It was our first cruise also, so we did the same thing as you and whatever happens, happens. I mean your cruising, how bad can it be!!! Hope you have a wonderful cruise.

Was on the October 23 sailing. We overnighted in Nassau. Arrived 12 noon on Monday and spent afternoon at private island beach. Beach was beautiful, food and drink expensive but the burger was large and good. The same tour with food included burger on the size of a McD's burger. Save money and bring water and some fruit and rolls from breakfast. Second day we did a 3 hr island tour. Very enjoyable and interesting info on politics on the island.

The ship is small as I have previously cruised RC Allure and Navigator. My suite 7258 was nice and I believe made over as no pink in bathroom. Lots of storage. Some work going on but didn't hear anything. Half of one deck was closed so assume they were upgrading. Don't recall which deck. Sun deck pool was closed but lounge chairs available. Boxes of toilets were on the pool's deck. One complaint is smoke. Passengers next door smoked on their balcony, including weed. Wasn't constant, and a cough would get them to finish and leave their balcony. The major smoke complaint was the casino. It needs sliding glass doors on both ends. You could smell the smoke in all the public areas. By the last night my throat started closing up.

Food was ok, not great, but anytime I don't have to cook food is good. Ship wasn't full so buffet wasn't bad.

Public bathrooms were hard to find and sometimes dirty but I blame the passengers not staff. Come on folks, you can flush toilets and not leave toilet paper on the floor. Teach your kids too as this was more common in the toilets near the kids zone.

Entertainment, saw two comedians, one more funny the other. Two shows, not top notch to be nice.

All in all though a good cruise. I would change the itinerary, however, and would pay more, for no day at sea and a stop in lower Florida as a replacement.
