NOLA Frenchmans hotel or Other..

For hotel reviews, I would recommend using Cruise Critic's sister site Trip Adviser. The hotel is at the very "far" end of the French Quarter away from the port area, so that might be a consideration, depending on the reviews you read on Trip Adviser.

Hotels in the Central Business District (CBD), or the Canal Street side of the French Quarter (FQ) are likely more centrally located. I personally love the Sheraton New Orleans (big hotel, but with a Big Easy charm). The last time we cruised, we stayed at the Hilton Riverside. Super convenient to everything, with a streetcar stop a the hotel and an easy walk to dozens of restaurants in the FQ and the CBD/Warehouse area.

As for transportation, cabs from the airport to the FQ, CBD, and the warehouse district are $36 total for one or two people or $15/pp for 3 or more in a single cab. For transportation to the pier, from the FQ, CBD, or warehouse district, I believe that it is still $8/pp.
