CaribbeanLover22 Posted May 22, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 22, 2018 I have heard snorkeling is pretty good in Roatan. There are tons of different excursions available (have been looking on shore excursioneer website and roatan ocean adventures) and have also heard people recommend going from the beach. Trying to decide what to book if anyone has recommendations for one vs another. Not too worried about cost as they all seem to be reasonable, just want the best snorkeling and friendly guides. Rare crewsweeper Posted May 23, 2018 #2 Share Posted May 23, 2018 Boat/offshore snorkeling can be crowded. Check with the excursion providers and see what they maximum passengers capacity is. But I would suggest heading to one of the beach clubs along West Bay and then hiring a small boat to take you off shore about 1/4 mile and let you snorkel along the reefs there. IMO snorkeling directly from the beach there can be a bit of a challenge, given boat traffic and lots of other snorkelers.
Krazcruiser Posted May 25, 2018 #3 Share Posted May 25, 2018 My best time snorkeling was in Roatan West End, my party of 3 came across a local who took us out for 20pp, ofcourse we had our own gear ,nothing fancy but the snorkeling was awesome Sent from my SM-N950U using Forums mobile app
ABQrobin Posted May 25, 2018 #4 Share Posted May 25, 2018 Snorkeling from a boat is better because you can get off the beach, away from splashing people and wave action which damage the reefs. Reefs are more pristine away from people.
