Rare Smokeyham Posted May 5, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 5, 2018 A friend is about to depart (mid-May) for an Amazon river cruise with Iberostar. She was recently told that rubber boots are very helpful to wear for walking in the jungle on shore excursions, and that a poncho is also helpful. For those who have been, is this correct and if so, will the ship provide either of those? She really does not want to have to haul a pair of rubber boots down to South America if possible. Thanks for any advice.

Rare Smokeyham Posted June 25, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted June 25, 2018 Just a quick update. My friend just ended up taking an old pair of gym shoes (trainers) and then leaving them behind at the end of the cruise. This worked out well. She did purchase a poncho while on board, and found this to be very helpful. A friend is about to depart (mid-May) for an Amazon river cruise with Iberostar. pjules Posted July 8, 2018 #4 Share Posted July 8, 2018 She may also want to bring bug spray for the walk/footware. During our walking tour many people suffered nasty ant bites because they came out quickly and were ferocious.
