Breakaway - Live 7/22

This thread wasn’t supposed to happen. But then mom got in a kerfuffle with some fireflies, fell and hurt herself, and will be unable to join the family as we hit the Baltic in celebration of my dad’s 75th birthday. We’re all well-beyond-sad over this, and I simply want her to be there, with us, every step of the way. So this one is for mom.

Time warp...

Wednesday afternoon we traveled from Rochester to Newark and then Newark to Heathrow. In Heathrow I had my Axe body spray confiscated when I couldn’t prove I was a boy less than 14. We then made it to Copenhagen around noon yesterday, with surprisingly little jet lag.

We began to wander the streets of Copenhagen, and made it a couple blocks.

The 1/2 liters were 49 DKK, and the liters were 59 DKK, so we spent the afternoon making economic sense.

All caught up on a Friday morning, and now we’re off to Carlsberg.

By the way, dad is arriving tomorrow morning, before we all board the Breakaway on Sunday.

Uh, okay...

Upstairs we find an exact replica of Matt’s freshman dorm room...

Normally we wouldn’t start drinking at noon, but it’s 5AM back home so it feels perfectly normal.

This is off to an excellent start! Beer and Breakaway!

My fascination with Tivoli...

Disney World was our go-to annual family vacation growing up, and walking into Tivoli just gave me the chills.

Off to ride the coaster, built in 1914, which has a manual brake operator in the middle...

Gab doesn’t do coasters, but I offered her vacation-hero status if she rides with her mom. She agreed, but only if I’d get kitty-face paint at some time during the week ahead. The kid doesn’t know how to threat me.

And now she’s no longer talking to me.

Now in line for Minen, which looks like log-flume meets space ranger-spin. There are zappers built into the flumes...

Whaaaat!? Another Doug review! There should have been an alert sent out for this. I didn’t know you were cruising again.
