How can you accidentally fall off the stern of a modern cruise ship?

I don't suppose we will ever know the full story but she cannot possible have just been sitting at the stern of the ship as she said.

The BBC online news article appears to indicate that there is CCTV footage, as this helped the Croatian coasties determine when/where she fell overboard.

I'm not suggesting that alcohol was a factor, however, it it was, she must have sobered up quickly.

She's alive and well (considering her ordeal) that's the main thing.

Yes she is very lucky to have survived due partly to the warmth of the water and the fact that she has had training having been cabin crew.

They were interviewing other passengers on the radio today and some were none too pleased as they had missed flights and connections etc because of it. While they were of course happy a life had been saved there appeared to be very little sympathy otherwise.

How can you fall off - well if this was some sort of a freak accident then you can bet that lots of ships will want to know what happened to stop it happening again.
