P&O dropped fare less than 3 days after final payment

Recommended Posts

I had final payment on my cruise on Saturday, low and behold the price drops on the same cabin and fare by $500 !!

This is nearly 25%. Seriously 3 days after final payment.

I have cruised over 80 days with P&O Australia and spent a SHIP load of money with them, (including casino and such)

Does anyone know if I could get some OBC or something !!

Anyone out there had a similar experience??

Ask your T/A to have a go, or if you booked direct, call P&O Customer Relations. Good luck !!

I have not had that experience.

Yes,

Very rude I think..

Not right at all, they get their final payments from early bookers then try and fill the ship at lesser prices. Immoral and dishonest. I would tell them so.

Like I said Less than 3 Days after I give final payment.

I even brought the possibility up when booking the fare about the price maybe going down with the foreign sales lady and she, in no uncertain terms said that this WILL be the price given for this fare.

once you pay your final payment thats about it, it happens to others too so maybe you shouldnt look once you pay

Yeah. I halfheartedly look after final payment, but that's the situation. Once final payment is made, it's locked in.

Sometimes there's been a price reduction, which would have been nice, but then I got the cabin I wanted earlier, and could make other plans and flight bookings based on that booking.

You can't expect to get the absolute best possible price ever for everything. As long as you booked at a price you were happy with, then what's done is done.

Buying last minute is one way around the issue but that too has issues. As mentioned there may not be any price drops as it may be a very popular cruise that sold well, you may not have much choice in cabin or even cabin category, add-ons like airfares are more expensive and accommodation may be limited. So it really can be a lottery as to which way you go early or late.

Happens to us in the US also. Only cruise line that will reduce after final payment is Carnival when booking with their Early Saver Fare.

Could the TA get you a higher category for the same amount you’ve paid? Sometimes that can be done except if the fares are for ‘New Bookings Only’.

Good luck, I hope you get something back.

Well...,

For an update to this.

I had a call from the foreign sales supervisor looking after me from P&O, she advised that in good faith they will be refunding the difference ($600).

I have asked for it to be put on as OBC which she agreed to. :D:D:D:D:D

Happy Chappy I am..:p
