Air traffic controller to strike in France...

If you download the Air France mobile app or go onto their website, they have been pretty good at posting warnings as a banner at the top of the app/page when they find out about strikes or stoppages that will affect them. We don't leave until December so I did not think to post it but Air France reported it Thursday of last week on their app/site. Hope that helps.

We leave on Thursday... and although we are travelling with KLM, they are a code share with AF --> and, to be honest, it won't matter which airline you are with if it is the air traffic controllers on strike!!!

May have to investigate alternative travel arrangements from Amsterdam....

It is not just flights to or from France that are effected. Flights that cross French air space en route for other countries may be delayed due to re-routing or even cancelled. (this was reported earlier on BBC news). So even if your flying elsewhere in Europe it is best to check with your carrier. Good luck one and all.

Our TA checked with KLM early this morning. At that time, our flight to Nice from Amsterdam was still considered a "go". On their website, it indicated that most AF planes were affected, but KLM not as much.

Not much we can do. We will be in Amsterdam around noon on Friday. Not sure what the afternoon will bring, but it is our vacation so we will just go with the flow.

Plan B would be to see if they can get us to Milan - and we will take a train from there.

Plan C - go to Barcelona for 3 days - and then fly to Nice.

Plan D - stay in Amsterdam for 3 nights and then fly to Nice when the strike is over (on Monday...).

All of these plans hinge, of course, on available seats on a plane.

Oh well - I am sure it will be an adventure - whatever happens.
