Parking at the Port of Miami payment question

I searched for the answer to this but the closest I came was a post from 2007 that really didn't answer my question.

We're going to park at the Port and my mom wants to know if we have to pay when we get there or when we leave.

What forms of payment are accepted?

Cash, traveler's checks and most major credit cards. Please see our

page for details.

When do I pay for parking?

With the exception of Garage J, parking lot users pay upon exiting the parking facilities.
