Un-Cruise vs. Nat Geo/Linblad

We're planning a cruise to Alaska next year and have narrowed our choices to either Un-Cruise (formally American Safari Cruises) and National Geographic-Lindblad.

They seem to have similar itineraries and ships but Nat Geo's prices are double that of Un-Cruise. I'm leaning towards Un-Cruise based on the price.

I'm looking for insight from anyone who might have sailed with either cruise line.

We wanted a smaller cruise, with nore emphasize on the nature size, less for the “regular” Alaska routes.

National Geo. prices were too high, and the reviews for Un Cruise were so good, we chose them.

I'm sure this is too late for the OP but for future posters: DH and I took the Un-Cruse from Ketchikan to Juneau and loved it so much we're doing the opposite itinerary in July. No experience with NatGeo/Lindblad but my guess is that Un-Cruise is a lot more laid back. There were no locks on the stateroom doors, no fancy dress nights, nothing flashy. Just a lot of smart, curious people who wanted to get up close and personal with nature. Food was plentiful and good (prepared from fresh ingredients with a minimum of canned/processed) but not a 24/7 banquet. If you didn't like what was offered at a meal they were happy to prepare something else for you. You're also not an income stream. Our bill for extras (but not tips) at the end of 7 days was $140. That included a snorkeling expedition I took using one of their heavy-duty wet suits. The rest was alcohol.

I laugh when I read posts from people on ships with thousands of passengers, rock-climbing walls, casinos, art auctions, etc. Just not our thing.
