First time to Freeport at end of December

We just booked the Carnival Fascination for Christmas break. We (2 adults, 2 kids (20 & 16 yrs old) have never been to Freeport. What is there to do there? Where is the best beach to go to? Any info would be great.

There is a free beach by the Lucaya market place but other than that it seemed just to be a shopping port unless you do an excursion. I did an excursion and had a blast, those that I talked to on the boat after who didn't do an excursion didn't have a very good time.

Doing an excursion is a great way to spend a day in Freeport.

Keep in mind weather will likely be in the 60's or 70's so a beach may not be that pleasant. You might want to wait until you're on the ship and see how the weather is, before you book an excursion.

What do you suggest to do if it isn't beach weather?
