Cyclone Marcus, a category 1 cyclone forming off Tiwi Island, NT

Cyclone Marcus is forming as a Category 1 cyclone off NT Coast. The low has caused the cancellation of the footy Grand Final on Tiwi Islands, NT, as well as the postponement of the Sealink ferry.

Cruise ships in the region are - QM2, currently in the Torres Strait, due in Darwin on Saturday and Azamara Journey due in Darwin on Sunday.

Cyclone is expected to be category 2 and to track close to Darwin Saturday.

Hope Darwin doesn't receive any cyclone damage.

Azamara Journey Captain says he hopes Cyclone will have passed by the time Azamara Journey berths in Darwin on Sunday.

QM2 was due to berth on Saturday.

A shame to miss any port but it would be for the best.

Cyclone Marcus is expected to pass close to Darwin today. Cyclone shelters have been opened. All flights in and out of Darwin have been cancelled.
