Cruise line spending

Recommended Posts

Hi -- With all the computer capabilities, do you think the cruise lines track someone's on-board spending? I mean, do they keep track of the dollar amount people spend over and above the cost of the actual cruise, such as excursions, specialty restaurants, bar bills, etc. I know most merchants know and follow their customers spending habits and tailor advertising and incentives so they can maximize the effectiveness of their ad dollars. I just wonder if they have a list of high spending cruisers vs low spending cruisers and tailor special offers to get the high rollers to book more cruises. Seems likely to me, but I don't really know.

Just wondering. I have no objection one way or the other.

Yes they know......most cruiselines have revenue goals for each area of revenue like bar revenue, gift shop revenue, excursion revenue etc. They can track it day to day to see if they are on target for specific revenue goals. It will also help them adjust those revenue goals for future cruises.
