How did I get this letter?

Don't get me wrong I am thrilled to get this letter but no clue why they sent it. I got offered nearly any cruise for $50 a person(up to 2 people) + fees/taxes and I get back $100 room credit so basically the cruise itself is free and I just pay for the fees/taxes. I called carnival already and they confirmed it and when I went online the promo was in my account so I booked a 7 day cruise on the carnival dream starting this December 28th for $265 for 2 people with $100 room credit. Is this a christmas giveaway or are they trying to get my back as I have not sailed with them in a year?

I got the same letter. I have not cruised on Carnival since 2010.

It did say it came from thier players club.

I did book it. A 8 night cruise on the Splendor out of N.Y.

They gave me my choice of Balconys, spa, aft, premium, it did'nt matter, anyone I wanted.

I can't believe it cost only $249. per person. And I got the $100 OBC too!

I've never gotten a free cruise from Carnival before so it was a nobrainer not to book it.

Do you run slot pulls on roll calls? If so you get to cruise free which is why people do slot pulls on many roll calls.

By gambling a little bit and then running slot pulls with other people's money and having your card in the machine, you get enough points to get these letter.

I have seen people cruise these free cruises many times just by doing slot pulls and a little gambling.

That is why there is often several people trying to add these to roll calls - the points they get on their card goes a long way towards getting them the letters you referenced. That is why they do them - who ever puts there card in for their slot pull gets the benefits

I haven't cruised with Carnival in several years and also got the letter. We are booking. several years ago I got a letter for a fancy resort in Las Vegas from Carnival and almost threw it away and on a whim book it! OMG! It was wonderful so this morning after getting this letter, I have been checking out every angle to get the best trip planned!

I just received the letter yesterday in the mail, but had already booked online! My mom had a completely free room, and I had the $50pp.

So we booked two rooms, upgraded to balcony after debating for a day and will be sailing off to the Mexican Riviera on Feb 22nd onboard the Miracle!!

I couldn't understand it either, we did some gambling, but seriously NOT much. And our last (and my only) Carnival Cruise was 4 years ago. We counted it as a heck of Christmas deal. :)

I got a letter back in Oct. and got my 7 day cruise for 4 people in a balcony room at just $175/person plus taxes and port fees. I could have gotten an inside room for much cheaper. The offer wasn't from the casino, it was just a special offer from carnival. Don't know why I got it verses others. Just a random thing.

A question for those of you that received the letter and haven't cruised Carnival in a few years... Have you sailed on other lines during that time? Under the Carnival umbrella? Perhaps they see you have "strayed" and want to win you back? Just a thought. And I agree with others, sounds like it is casino related. Whatever the reason, it's a great offer and I hope you are able to take advantage.

WRONG. I've run numerous lot pulls and the only thing we ever got was one time they sent a bottle of wine to our dinner table (I don't drink so our table mates got to enjoy) DW play slots and we use her card for pulls but apparently that and what she puts thru the machines doesn't get anything (especially not the unlimited drink card) except the chocolate covered strawberries and a photo coupon on the next cruise. SO maybe some people have ulterior motives but not everybody does. It's just a fun way to spend a couple of hours and a chance to get to know our fellow CC friends.

I received the same offer. Last cruise with Carnival was 2010. We have sailed Norweigan 1 time since then. I gambled a little bit on our 2010 cruise. Maybe lost a couple hundred. I was shocked to get this offer the only problem is we are booked Feb 1st on the dream and I don't know if we can swing another cruise by May 31st but it is a great offer not to pass up.

I am so glad to see some of you getting a break. I got an offer (that I had to look for in my VIFP location, no letter) for a good deal on a interior room. Obviously they don't do their research. We have sailed balconies or above since cruise #3.

I would love it if they would extend some of the love to loyal cruisers as well.

My dad and my son get these offers a couple of times a year. They cruise once every few years. I have never received one of these great offers. I figure Carnival figures they get me onboard 3 or 4 times a year without a great offer so why extend one to me.

It is awesome that many of you are able to get away for a great deal! Hope you have wonderful trips.

I got a letter today also. At first I thought is must be some kinda gimmic. I've been periodically checking western Caribbean sailing prices for the last 3 months or so and dodging regular calls from our 'personal travel planner'. So hubby and I login to the Carnival site after seeing the letter and end up booking a 7 night trip out of Port Canaveral in a premium corner balcony room for $582 TOTAL!!! (That includes taxes, fees and pre-paids). I still cannot believe it!! Also includes $100 on board credit!!!

We haven't been on a Carnival cruise since spring of 2010 and neither of us gambled then. We've sailed once on RC since then but that's been it. I figured the letter came as incitement after all the quotes I kept doing and backing out of. I can't imagine why else they'd have picked me. My husband actually has more VIFP points then I do, but he did not have the offer under his account. Crazy, but I will totally take it!!

We switched to NCL, but free is free right?
