No, in the uk some cruise lines offer a taster day. This one was via a local TA.

No you can't take guests on board when you are holiday. Too much security now.

We did one on the Eclipse back in 2012.

I wrote about on my blog here

If you are lucky enough to get the chance its a great day out. We have done 7 ships visits in total now, some free and other paid for. It does help with the addiction if your next cruise isn't that near. ;)

At one time, i know for sure they had it in the US..our friends did a bus trip from fl west coast to visit a new ship on the east coast. It was a sales promo...

We also ran into this on Royal or Celeb from Fla,,,,

It was so poorly organized at the port that all those waiting to board for their cruise vacation had to wait in the terminal until the day visitors finished lunch and were cleared off the ship.....so our lunch was delayed!

Sounds like it works much better elsewhere! And with Concierge Class getting the embarkation lunch...they might not be able to offer lunch....

I've done the tour with AAA Cruise years ago we had to provide ID for clearance.

Well, did the tour onboard Silhouette on Friday last when she docked in Belfast.

We arrived early and had to wait in our car until nearly 11.30am as passengers were still getting off to do some sightseeing. 11.30am was the time we were given on the itinerary. Passports were checked and taken off us and we were given lanyards with a pass on them. There was approximately 50 of us there. Once onboard we were shown around the various dining rooms, the casino etc. We then had lunch in the Tuscan Grille. Four courses with the wine glasses being topped very frequently. As there was nothing on the menu that I would have eaten, I asked could I have chargrilled chicken, which proved to be no problem, our waiter was very attentive. It was nice to meet other people at the dining table and to be able to talk about cruising. Three couples hasn't been on one but like ourselves had a cruise booked and just liked the idea of being able to look around and ask questions ect.

After lunch there was a short talk given by two reps (that had flown over from England that morning) about Celebrity Cruises & The Silhouette as we were on her and if we were interested in booking a cruise we could downstairs in the Future Cruise Holidays. It was not a hard sell at all, they only spoke for about 10 minutes or so. We were then each given a $15 drinks voucher to use in six or seven of the bars. We were then shown only one stateroom, it was a veranda stateroom which was unoccupied. We then had over an hour free time to explore and we met up at the Martini bar where most people by the look of it had used their vouchers. We disembarked at approx 3.30pm, by that time a lot of the passengers were returning from their excursions. We then collected our passports.

We had a really enjoyable day out for £35 per person. Hubby had been a bit doubtful about going on a cruise, I had been trying for a couple of years to persuade him & a couple of months ago booked the Eclipse on 14 August for Scandinavia & St Petersburg. So happy days!!!
