Any Q's About the Glory?

I always write a review when we return from a trip and it invariably happens that someone poses a question that had I known the question in advance of the cruise I could have researched onboard and gotten the answer. So, with that in mind does anyone have any questions about Glory? I'll do my best to find out the answer and return to this thread with the answer when we return (you'll just have to wait a few weeks for the answer:)).

We're going on the the Glory in April and can't wait! My husband and I have been on the Vista and Dream and really enjoyed spending time in the Ocean Plaza. I know Glory doesn't have this area, but I'm wondering what they have for options in regards to live music and where the majority of people enjoy listening to live music at night.

Thanks!

If you hear someone hollering in German, that will be my in-laws on their first cruise. :D

That will make us feel right at home, we took a trip to Germany in June to see DW's family:) (we have plans to go over every year now that we are empty nesters). We have enough registered people on the roll call for a meet and greet so I'm hoping that goes off well.

I have one..is the aft pool adults only and is that enforced. How about the enforcement of seat saving on the pool decks, Serenity etc. ? Those would be good things to know.

I'll keep my eyes open. I expect I'll be able to discuss the aft pool more since our cabin is only one deck down from it (right under it, in fact), but I'll see if I notice anything at the main pool and Serenity.

I was on Glory Oct 14-21 and can tell you that the aft pool is adults only, the sign is posted, and they have pool monitors enforcing it. Whenever someone is in a pool, any pool, there is a crew member there watching them.

As for the chair hogs, I didn’t spend any time observing that.

The music venues are pretty standard across the Conquest Class ships - Conquest, Glory, Valor, Liberty and Freedom. You'll have the main pool area, the casino, the atrium, one of the rooms back near the comedy club, and the piano bar.

The entertainers keep rotating, except for the piano bar, so if you find one you like to hear again, browse through the Fun Times to catch times and place for that group/singer.

I have a question I didn't know HOW I was going to get an answer for. This will be my 1st cruise in 20+ years, so thank you for your generous offer.

Coffee creamer --- I can't have dairy, so I use a soy creamer in my coffee each morning. I've heard that Carnival DOES have soy milk on board -- both in the MDR and at the coffee place --- but is it the thicker coffee creamer type? and what brand is it? I have fallen in love with the SILK Soy Coffee Creamer, and my fingers are crossed that this is what they have since some of the others are not creamy, at all. If all they have is soy milk, it's not creamy, and it won't work for me. The ones that are labelled as soy (or almond, cashew, or whatever) COFFEE CREAMER, have a thicker richer consistancy. If they don't -- I will probably need to bring my own, and that will be painful since the SILK Soy Creamer requires refrigeration. What can I say? Gotta have my coffee fix in the morning. Anything else foodwise -- I'm good, I'm flexible -- not a problem. I guess that's why Carnival has added those coffee bars where you just "buy your own brew". I bet those places have long, long lines in the morning. But I know I'll be in a rush to get off the ship to enjoy our days in port. Sigh.

Thanks for finding out whatever you can while you are onboard. Wishing you great weather, and lots of fun!

I completely understand about the coffee fix and I will find out what they have onboard.

I can't even pronounce the name of their village but we flew into Nuremberg to visit my sister in law. In June we visited my brother in law who runs a B&B in Warnemunde. Next summer we'll be visiting Bavaria again. (DW was born there but was adopted by an American couple when she was three and she came to the states when she was five. The adoption was an open one so she always knew who her siblings were.)

See post #14.

Carnival had made the aft pools "family friendly" for a very short time this past spring. "Family friendly" meant that kids were allowed in the aft pool and hot tubs while they were under "adult supervision".

Because the family friendly policy was unenforceable (whose kid is this anyway) but more importantly, because of the amount of negative criticism and blowback cruisers generated, Carnival was forced to reverse themselves and restore the aft pool and hot tubs back to adult only. Both the Captain and the Hotel Director addressed this reversal during a Captain's Diamond Get Together we had with them this summer.

Carnival seems alert to negative feedback.- remember when they removed the shrimp cocktail from the MDR menu? Now if they will only reverse themselves one more time and put cheesecake back on the Steakhouse menu!

My wife is from a small village called Heiligenmoschel. Near Kaiserslautern (K-town in American lingo), about a hour SSW from Frankfurt. I hope her brother and their wives enjoy their cruise on the Glory.
