Yikes! That’s terrible. We cruise to those ports every year and have never needed anything other than American $$. Apparently your travel agent hasn’t been traveling [emoji4]

That's why you do your own research when traveling.

Some places or people won't want to take old-looking currency; they prefer new looking bills. But not sure that will be a problem in the islands listed.

 

We have had someone really look over a more used looking bill and ask if we had newer ones.

Aruba does have Aruban Florin (Guilders) and Curacao has Neth Antilles Guilders... but both are pegged to USD.

Official rate 1.78 guilders/1 US Dollar.

Street price 1.75.

Casino price 1.80.

 

The key is getting change on a purchase: HT69 is right.

In Aruba, getting US change is easy, esp. in tourist areas.

When I lived in Curacao, ten years ago now, change was almost always made in guilder.
