Question about outside noise, aft cabin, Gem

Hi everyone!

Booking Boston-Bermuda for next summer on the Gem. We are interested in an aft cabin. Do you hear any engine noise/rumble at all? What are your overall feelings/experiences with an aft cabin, good & bad? Thanks!

Love the Aft! A few years back I sailed in an aft penthouse on the Gem. There were no engine noises, just the sound of the ships wake!

2nd being a fan of the aft suite on the GEM. Sailed her several months ago. No noise. Great cabin. Great views.

No noise no soot great views. Keep in mind the balcony is just a little bigger on the Gem, not huge as on the bigger ships like breakaway.

I'm with everyone else (though never been on the Gem, Jewel is close enough) love the aft balcony no mechanical noise at all that I noticed. I find the wake noise to be somewhat relaxing, and the view just can't be beat with no wind like you have on the sides or forward.

We love aft cabins and don't book unless we can get one. There is no noise other from the sound of the wake.

Aft cabins are also why NCL can get a few more bucks for the aft's due to demand and little supply.

We are also aft only people (3 times on the Gem alone)... if the ship backs into a port you feel the shudder. Otherwise, no noise or other unsavory things to report. I think you said you are headed to Bermuda so that wouldn't happen more than once lol

From the back outdoor food area on the gem we can look directly down on to the balcony of some of these rooms, dont know if that is concern, dont know what activities you do on the balcony/how much privacy is necessary

If you are on Deck 8 you may hear music or bass from the Bliss Lounge below you on Deck 7. Otherwise, we love aft facing balconies or suites.

Thanks again everyone. Just booked Aft cabins 10668 and 10168! Very excited! Not sailing until July 2019, but daydreaming about the trip will get us through the winter!

We stayed in PH 10166 on the Pearl (sister ship of the Gem) and loved it. Didn't notice any noise and the views were to live for...

Been in a deck 10 aft penthouse and the only time we had any engine noise was when we were at cruising speed - 20+ kts and they turned one of the pods to start a sweeping turn. Otherwise it was smooth sailing with just the sound of the wake.
