First time in a suite

What cabin did you have? Sounds like my aft cabin #4237 that I'm really looking forward on our Dec 15 sailing!!

I'm okay with not a lot more space, but I'm looking forward to the wrap-around view. (We also have 3 adjoining aft balconies!)

Question: Does the aft wrap suite have 1 or 2 balcony doors?

Vista Suites on the Pride have one balcony door. It's located in a hallway between the 2 rooms.

I just upgraded to a Suite today (upsell fairy is a bad, bad fairy)

i thought i would hijack your thread instead of starting another since i was curious about the same thing..but one more question.

does having a suite and vip boarding etc mean you can get the same perks as FTTF, for instance, entering the suite before 1:30ish?

just curious if we'd be able to drop carry ons right off or if we'd need to haul it to lunch on the Lido and wait as per usual. not a big deal, just curiosities.

i'll be on the Legend in January.

On the Sunshine in the summer we boarded about 11:30 and popped down to our suite to see if we could leave our carry on luggage in the room. Our steward was there and basically said he was done and we could stay in the room if we wished.

We like the Ocean Suites better than the Vista because of the room structure. You do get a larger room with more storage and a tub with a vanity area between the bathroom and the room.

Vista suites with the exception of deck 5 have a small living room, a small bedroom, tub, vanity area, and imho more storage area due to the walk in closet. The two rooms work for us because wifey likes to take naps. I can hang out in the other room with out bothering her. Also, lets not forget the best part 220 sq. ft. wrap around deck.

Once you've had a suite you'll never go back :D

Not true.. we where up sold once to a suite. It was our first Suite and Balcony since we have gone back to our inside cabins. Do have a balcony booked for Oct. 14 cruise. Looking at maybe upgrading to a balcony for our Sunshine cruise. I loved the extra room but we found booking 2 rooms ( adult and Kids) to give more space and extra bathroom. Now we are 3 and back to one cabin the balcony might be nice.

I think it's all just a matter of personal preference.

We had our first Grand Suite on the last cruise, and loved it. We are a family of 4 who prefers traveling in 1 room, so the extra room in a suite is nice. We had initially booked one aft extended balcony for us with an inside for the boys around the corner, but I was worried about having them in another room, so I was very pleased with the switch (the Grand Suite had an extended balcony that was even bigger than the aft would've been.)

For our upcoming cruise on the Legend I tried configuring us all sorts of ways, but being all together in 1 ocean suite always worked out better than 2 rooms (one being a balcony, which I think I'd miss not having on a 7 day).

I admit, I liked the VIP at embarkation and disembarkation. I also really enjoyed the larger bathroom with the glass door on the tub--the shower curtains give me the Heebie Jeebies. Since our boys are teenagers, the separate dressing room was nice for privacy.

I also prefer to have us all in 1 room rather than 2, unless there is an adjoining door that we can keep open. I worry about the boys otherwise. And 2 adjoining balcony rooms (so I can have my balcony) would cost more than 1 suite.

So for us, at this point in our lives, with our preferences, a suite makes sense. But if you don't care about having a balcony, or don't want to be all together in 1 room, 2 adjoining inside rooms might be your best option.

  • 4 weeks later...

I am really considering it. We have a aft extended balcony right now on the main deck. A vista balcony (wrap around balcony with two rooms) is open on the panorama deck.

We are travelling with a 10 month old who has a early bed times and takes naps. It would be nice to have a separate area for him. It would also be nice to have the big closet as we will have a stroller and car seat to store.

Also skipping the line at embarkation would be nice.

But, its $620 for the upgrade. Not sure if it is worth that?

Carnival suites are not real suites compared to other major lines. False advertising comes to mind when I think of them.

Have you seen the suites on RC and the other lines? I'm not talking the ones like sky or loft I'm talking the regular suites..... Very close as far as size goes.

I had a GRAND SUITE on the Victory earlier this year as part of a FREE Casino VIFP offer. The room itself was great! It pretty much was two balcony rooms with no divider wall (space wise). The bathroom was fully tiled and it also had an additional dressing area. The balcony was twice as wide. VIP check in is included (although I am already platinum)

Again, the ROOM was GREAT! However the pull out couch for the extra double bed was TERRIBLE. It was one with the flat board planks under the thin mattress. The 3rd guest I took with was better off to sleep on the closed up sofa or even just lay the mattress on the floor. I was very disappointment that this was the accomodations in a suite since their regular beds are pretty comfortable. We made due but if other ships are using those beds you may want to just request a fold up bed be brought in at turn down.

The room was great, but I personally wouldn't spend the money they want for it as I am content with a simply balcony room

We have done suites for the past 3 cruises we have been on. LOVE THEM!! Not really a fan of the whirlpool, but I AM a fan of what I like best about the suites: The room. There is a lot more room to hang clothes (there's two closets instead of one), more drawers to put folded clothes in various spots around the room. A table near the sofa so me and DD can keep a running game of Monopoly going. Yes, the balcony is a lot bigger than regular balconies. Again, for us, that's not a biggie. There's only two of us, so really, how big do we need the balcony to be?

For the poster who had the baby, honestly I WOULD do it without hesitation. In a regular balcony, you are all going to be squeezed in like sardines. You want to be able to move around and that is something you can do with a suite. With a regular balcony, sometimes I feel like I have to walk sideways to get around!

After seven cruises I've chosen the upgrade to an ocean suite. What are the differences besides the bigger room? What can I expect to be the biggest perk? I'll be on the Pride out of Baltimore.

Is it too late to downgrade to a balcony if all you are getting is a bigger room? Though hey you might enjoy the splurge just to try it once.

Can't downgrade without a serious penalty. Really want to see the extra space and let the family enjoy the tub. Got a casino deal so the price wasn't bad.

I took your advise and booked the suite! I am usually pretty thrifty but I splurged as a surprize for my hubby!

We feel if you really want to enjoy a suite on Carnival, you have to get the Grand suite. The OS just don't offer that much more for the price. The Grand suite has a much better space and room.

When we don't book a Grand Suite, we book a extended balcony. Other than the bathroom there really isn't that much difference. The small "extra" area is a dressing area that is usually too dark to apply make up, even when the mirrors are lit so you end up using the bathroom lighting anyway.

We have no qualms about spending extra money for extra space but we want to make certain it is space we will enjoy, such as a larger seating area for watching TV or eating our room service orders. It is also nice not feeling your room is cluttered because of lack of counter space.

When we find a Grand Suite for a decent price, we go ahead and book it. If not, we book an extended balcony and hope for the suite prices to come down and then upgrade. (Once we were upgraded for free but I think our PVP had something to do with that since it was our honeymoon.)

If the price doesn't come down on the suites, we know we will be comfortable enough with the extended balcony even though we would prefer the suite.

It still amazes me the price they ask for a OS when you really aren't getting that much more. It would seem to me if they were going to encourage repeat guests to upgrade, they would not have such a large gap between balconies and OS. Many times the gap between the OS and the Grand isn't as much as the gap as between the balcony and the OS, and the Grand has so much more room in the bath, room, and balcony.

We are doing the vista suite. Grand suite wasn't available for this cruise so I didn't even look at it. I didn't care for the OS. The Vista has a HUGE balcony!

go to you tube an look up carnival legend 4237 and you will get a few videos of that room, that made me decide on that room for March most are the same other than the overhang on the balcony on other floors. I get up ALOT earlier than hubby and would really rather sit on my balcony than up in the Lido, and by having the separate bedroom I will be able to do that this time and not have to be super quiet. Super excited, and whats nice is you two can be sitting on the balcony while baby naps and still see baby thru the windows!:D
