Greek Ports on your own or walking tour

Doing our first Med cruise next month on the Crown Princess. Looks like ports in Italy best done with organized tours but not so sure in Greece based on what we have been reading.

Considering a DIY for Corfu, Crete and Mykonos. Will we be sorry?

What are the chances of coming across someone offering a good and relatively inexpensive walking tour at these ports?

Thanks so much for your input.

I'm not sure which ports-of-call you are visiting in Italy, but the ones we have visited were doable on our own, or with the help of hoho buses.

We visited Corfu Town on our own a couple of years ago and had no problem seeing it on our own. Although the walk from the cruise port to town is a little longish, you can catch a local bus if you like.

Not problem to take a taxi tour in Corfu. We took a tour around island to Paliocastrica with some stops for photo and drop off in DT. Cost us for 80 euro for 3 ppl

Can thoroughly recommend Corfu Taxis for a private tour. We used them in March and the driver, Vangelis met us at the port gates at 1pm. We had a wonderful tour in a very comfortable car driving along the west coast where the views were awesome. Corfu Taxis have several options for tours but are happy to tailor the tour to your requirement. We returned to the ship at 5.30pm and the cost for the four of us was Euros 180. Check out the website and see the excellent reviews they have. Good Luck with your plans.

With Mykonos you may want to take the earliest ship tour of Delos and after that wander around Mykonos for four or five hours. Delos is the must see site and you can take a boat to that island on your own but that might be hard to arrange in high season.

Hi,

Did you get a taxi once you got off the ship and negotiate a price/trip or did you book in advance? If in advance, with which company?

Thanks,

Monica
