Regensburg to Budapest or Budapest to Regensburg?

It usually doesn't matter which side of the boat your cabin is on as you will probably be up on the upper deck to see both sides of the river.

It is also a crap shoot as to which side of the river you might be docked on, so even though ships usually dock pointing upstream, in Budapest we've been docked on both sides, both times with the same cruise company.

Very little concern as to which side. Most ships do a nighttime parade so you are up and back. No matter what you will likely be on deck and want to see the lights on both sides of the river.

Water levels can be a crap shoot at any time as they are a function of rain and thus of weather.
