Cyclone Season Gale Force Winds and Rough Seas affecting Aus/NZ cruising this summer

Recommended Posts

Whilst I was in Tasmania this month the severe weather conditions affected a number of cruises. Amsterdam left Hobart early and skipped Port Arthur tender, to try to avoid the worst of the weather. Whilst it was slow going cruising to the next port at Kangaroo Island, passengers were able to tender for half a day. A large ship arrived at Hobart at night in lieu of 8.00 am, as scheduled.

I am now catching up with adverse weather conditions in NZ. Are there cruise ships currently affected in NZ?

After Noumea late last week we were supposed to go to Lifou, but due to the cyclone the skipper decided to go up the western side of New Caledonia and then go over the top and into Vila that way, skipping Lifou.

A shame for you but probably a more comfortable trip and chances are you wouldn't have been able to tender.
