12 Day or 13 Day Sailing

Thinking about Aus/NZ this December. I received a brochure in the mail for Princess' recent sails promo (great prices) and I'm not sure if the 13-day sailing would be better or not. The 13-day sailing picks up Wellington and Phillip Island. The 12-day has Tauranga. Which itinerary would be the best in your opinions? The 13-day sails on Dec 22nd and the 12-day sails Dec 10th in case that makes a difference also.

Thank you for your opinions.

If the decision is to pick between Tauranga and Wellington, then my pick would be Tauranga. This is where you see the Maori culture at Te Puia, geysers, Rotoru, etc. Wellington is good too and is where there are national museums including Te Papa. If there is another stop that stops near Tauranga then get to Wellington.

I think the biggest decision is if you want to have Christmas on board.

Are you planning a pre or post cruise stay?

It would be neat to see the penguins at Phillip Island and you could always do Tauranga in a land stay, depending on how much time you have.
