Live - Harmony of the Seas 5-19 to 5-26-2018 Finding Inner Harmony with 6k others :)

Recommended Posts

Well it is that time again for the Seadog family to head out on the open seas. This will be our first time on Harmony, however we have had the good fortune of sailing on Oasis several times and Allure once so we have some idea of what we can expect.

According to Wiki the ship at max occupancy holds 6,780 passengers -

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MS_Harmony_of_the_Seas

Heading south tomorrow via air freight, better known as American Airlines and boarding Harmony on Saturday. We have an overnight at the Hilton Marina. We are a small cog, part of a larger group going so there may be less posts, but I will try and post lots of pictures of the ship/cabin/areas/entertainment along with hopefully lots of food porn. I am also going to try to post many videos as I practice taking them and editing them to improve, so depending on the WIFI quality there should be videos as well.

We are stationed in a Boardwalk Balcony Cabin, so no endless view of the passing sea, but let's see what views the boardwalk provides....

As the video linked above shows, we are on the Western Route this upcoming week so will be porting at Labadee, ( hopefully getting some Medication for our Vacation), Jamaica, ( hopefully getting some.. well nevermind that).. and Cozumel ( where we have our only excursion booked of Playa Mia Beach Break, where I hope to sample some tequila and maybe get an on beach massage!)

On question I hope to answer is can someone find peace and quiet along with relaxation on such a large ship? Follow along to find out if there are any secret hide-a-ways and areas to retreat from almost 6K passengers.

Hope you can join us for the next week or so and look for updates to start tomorrow afternoon as we begin our journey to Fort Lauderdale and then Harmony of the Seas..

Looking forward to your review. We sailed on Harmony in March. Full ship with 6500 passengers. We never felt crowded. Can't wait to see your experience.

Awesome zdad! Hope to have lots to post and a nice week. Currently the projected forecast is not stellar for the Western, but Harmony should have enough to keep me occupied!

If its possible to give recommendations, mine are these....

  1. If you eat at a specialty restaurant, try Jamie's Italian. Phenomenal meal. And we got the lamb chops as an appetizer. Great decision by a traveler in our group.
  2. DO NOT miss the "A Fine Line" show. Maybe the best shipboard show we've seen.
  3. The Boardwalk Hot Dogs are a great, quick mid day snack.
  4. The solarium Bistro is a great place for breakfast. Kids can go to the Solarium for a meal, if your bringing them. Much less crowded than Windjammer.
  5. The lower decks in the Solarium are a great place to avoid lounge chair hogs.
  6. The trivia contests are fun on sea days. A few of them are group contests, which were fun.
  7. I found sitting at the bar in the Solarium or in the wicker chairs near it, are a great place to kick back and read a book.
  8. The bar and the little seating area in Central Park is a great place to sit and relax in the evening. Usually a classical guitarist or other light musical entertainment there. Very relaxing.
  9. If you buy something in the Promenade and can put your receipt in the jewelry giveaway bag for the last evening, do it. I bought a cheap $99 watch and they actually pulled my name out of the huge bag at the giveaway. Got a bottle of champagne and a nice bracelet for the wife as the prize. Anything can happen.

Enjoy your time. I can wait to read your review.

Zdad, did you happen to notice Jamie’s lunch menu? It’s an perk option to go there or Sabor for lunch one day, and I’m curious of which to choose. Of course, I could wait to see for myself... but where’s the fun in that? Thank you!

Did not notice the lunch menu, but if I had to choose between those two, I'd go to Jamie's 11 times out of 10. My personal opinion (others surely will feel differently) is that I can get Sabor quality Mexican food at my local mom and pop joint near my house. Jamie's is a unique tasting experience. Best spots for relative quiet is the Solarium area as well as a seating area by the track on deck 5.

Also enjoyed Central Park.
