Travelling with friends who aren’t platinum/boarding question

Hi,

Does anyone have any experience of travelling with friends who are a lower latitude status & can tell me if one person is platinum can you all board together as a group even if staying in separate studio cabins? We are going on the escape in December & wanted to know if we can all board together using my platinum status. There are 4 of us, one platinum & the rest silver & gold. Thanks [emoji4]

I have read mixed results on this. :) Most likely you'll only know when you are boarding. The official statement is no. But sometimes it is flexed.

I have a bit of a similar situation on my upcoming cruise. I am platinum and travelling on top of that in a suite. I have travel companions who travel in mini suite and are gold. I am planning to just ask from the concierge to be downgraded to the normal folks boarding so I can board with the golds. I understand I need to get my suite key from the suite line though.

If a concierge would happen to invite the golds (my parents) to join us in suite boarding of course I won't decline. But I will not ask him/her of that or in any way suggest I would want that. I rather want to downgrade my boarding. :) Wanting to have the official "vacation has started welcome onboard" photo together with my parents. :)

Well, still some weeks to go. Perhaps my parents can still get their suite bid accepted. :D

Thanks for the info [emoji4] it’s a tricky one isn’t it! I assumed if there were only 2 of us they would probably be ok with it but 4 I’m not so sure. I would be happy to board with gold/silver passengers under normal circumstances but we have our hearts set on vibe passes so ideally wanted to board first with platinum [emoji51] I guess we will weigh it up once we get there.

It's really pretty simple. You go in your VIP line to get your VIBE passes. The rest go in their assigned line and you meet up for a drink on the ship. Mission accomplished.

Enjoy your cruise.

I thought I just read here that everyone needs to be present who wants to get a vibe pass so the op would need the others too. The op cannot get vibe passes to the rest of the gang. Great however if it is not so. :)

I've read that you have to be present to get a Vibe pass, thus one person can't get it for the whole group. Plus, they frown upon one person saving places in line for others.

Yes you guys are right, sometimes you do have to all be present to get the vibe passes....although I think it depends on the day as back in January when I was with just the one friend he managed to get on before me & they gave him 2 passes. So who knows! We will just play it by ear on the day. I just wondered if anybody had any first hand experience [emoji4] thanks for the replies

You have a great attitude about it. I commend you. The whole time I was reading your post I thought it would be really great if you could get your parents upgraded and you could all have the perks. Good luck to that.

I too have been in your situation traveling with friends and family that were not in the suite while I was. I never asked for anything. If we wanted to be with them, we either met them after suite breakfast or lunch or we dined with them in the main dining room or did things on their turf.

It amazes me how people think just because they're in a suite they can pull up people that are not.

Agree. It also amazes me that a Platinum would ask to have non-Platinum guest go with them, because they want Vibe passes. Now how is that fair to other Platinum guest that also want them.

It also amazes me how some people can be so rude when I am merely asking for advice from people who may have been in the same situation. But thank you for your criticism

Sorry that I offended you, but think of it this way. Since I cruise in a suite, what if I brought 3 other people to check in with me, so they could get Vibe passes, and you were unable to get one because of what I did, would that be fair to you?

On Escape, all must be present for Vibe passes. First hand knowledge, and a few direct recaps from friends who have tried to have passes held. Sorry. Other NCL ships appear to not have the same demand for Vibe. I'm not platinum, but I'm part of the Amazing Race to get passes my last two Escape cruises!

That is why I loved being in a suite on Epic. Automatic POSH.

From what I understand, Epic is the most difficult as it serves the suite guests exclusively. Have never sailed Epic. We are thinking Med cruise on Epic in 2019. Will have to do suite!

As the Sun and the aft PH is my fave I was hesitant to do a megaship. Due to 2 cancellations we ended up in the Haven on Epic. It was great. Loved POSH. Loved Epic Club. Loved the workout room on 17 and the spa treatment room there too.

Not crazy about Epic spa or smoky casino. But minor irritants.

I really think it will depend on your boarding time. We always wait and board after 12:00. That being said we had a 2 bedroom suite for 3 of us and an elderly relative (first time cruiser) was in a balcony cabin. We checked him in and he waited for us to do our suite check in. They were ready to take us to the ship and we declined stating we planned on boarding with him. The concierge told us to bring him along.

Our second experience was with another first time cruiser. When we entered they saw we were platinum and showed us the short line. We told her we did not want to leave our friend and they allowed her to come with us.

As I stated earlier this was well after the first boarding times so if you are not wanting to race for a Vibe pass or be one of the first ones onboard it might be easier.
