Alcoves -- Worth the Price?

Algebralovr maybe you can report back as to what was included with the alcoves. On the website there is a long list but no one has been able to report back whether they got all these new inclusions. Thanks!

I checked out the alcoves while hanging out on the lawn and found that basically you were "on display" to everyone else out on the lawn, which was a turn off for me. Also, depending on when you book your alcove, it could be raining, super windy, or super hot. Not exactly how I want to spend an afternoon throwing away $149.

The being on display thing is what turned me off as well.

I would think sitting by the pool with hundreds of people looking at you is truly being on display- the few people walking on the lawn looking at you is a small percentage vs. the pool.

Walking, not on Reflection - more like an obstacle course; the lawn was covered in towels with bodies inches apart.

Is this common on the reflection? We always use the lawn on other S ships and are the only ones up there. Was hoping the lawn would be a good place to let our little one crawl around without bothering anyone!

Last March on our Caribbean cruise on Reflection we rarely saw anyone up on the lawn...never felt “on display” in our alcove. Relaxing....maybe there are more sun seekers on the lawn when she is doing Med cruises?

Absolutely loved ours on the Reflection. Had a lot of OBC to use up so thought why not. Attendants were lovely but we tended to get our own drinks. Fruits and cheese plates were amazing - we could have phoned for room service but we didn't need to. Just the two of us so plenty of space. Only frustration were one annoying family who, although the whole lawn was empty plonked themselves right in front of our alcove!

How did that present a problem? Were they noisy?

Did they obstruct your view of the Lawn?

Or was it that they invaded your space?

Happy cruising 🌊🛳🇺🇸🌅

Happy to. We are counting the days!

I wonder if the benefits will be different since we booked at the old price rather than the new price?

Two years ago, we got lunch the last sea day in the LCG at no extra charge, but we had paid full price for the entire week. It was a holiday cruise, so no discounts.

They were noisy and yes it frustrates me that out of the whole empty lawn they choose that space.

Seems like being in a pool lounger would put one in a position to be more "on display" than being in an alcove would.

They need to face the water..:)

Then you'd really be on display for all the people walking along the perimeter of the ship...and inevitably stopping to lean on the rail and look out at the ocean, thus blocking your view.

I've rented alcoves multiple times and never saw it anywhere near that busy.

I doubt it. We never saw it anywhere close to that crowded either time we had alcoves (multiple days) on Reflection.

We've been on Silhouette and Reflection a number of times, including holiday cruises and one full of families from the northeast during a president's day week break. Never seen that many people on the lawn for extended periods.

There may be groups during the Officers vs Guests Bocce contest, but not too many laying on towels there.

Heck, last time on Silhouette, I was the only one laying on a towel there, while the family visited in the alcove with the roof up and I wanted sun.

There is a big difference between Mediterranean cruises and Caribbean ones. On Mediterranean ones I have seen the lawn packed

To each his own, but to me a crowd like that would be no different than being at the pool and having every lounger taken and the pool full of people..... except that the alcove is still your own reserved space that you don't have to worry about losing if you leave to go to lunch or whatever.

We always reserve for Caribbean cruises and never found the lawn crowded at all. If we come with others, a wonderful place to meet and not worry about getting to the pool at 7:00 am to reserve a chair. We find the alcoves very worthwhile- We enjoy the service of the alcove butlers.

I do not understand why people waste money at the casino's or the "art" shows- selling mostly high priced prints-some others say why dine in specialty restaurants when the food is included, again to each his or her own. We each should enjoy our vacation as we please.

I agree, but it's amazing how ardently some argue against the alcove (not necessarily in this thread.) Very often it comes across as simple having a case of the green-eyed monster, LOL.
