Julie MacCoy Posted June 22, 2018 #26 Share Posted June 22, 2018 Most cruise lines will stock "frozen" prepared Kosher meals if given sufficient notice. Many would consider these meals akin to TV Dinners. The problem is that the ships do not have a Kosher Galley. If the frozen meals are heated up in a non-kosher oven, they cease to be kosher. Vegan meals prepared in non-kosher baking pans and baked in a non-kosher oven also are not kosher.

Vegan meals prepared in non-kosher baking pans and baked in a non-kosher oven also are not kosher. The frozen meals are double wrapped. The first wrapping is opened by the cook and the meal is heated in the second wrapping. The meal is then delivered wrapped to the guest. This maintains it being Kosher. Kosherica will actually Kosher a kitchen, arrange for special dishes, etc. Since a mashgiach must also travel to validate the kitchen stays Kosher, they got to get the money to pay for these things somehow. Rala Posted June 22, 2018 #30 Share Posted June 22, 2018 Uh...no. A dietary request is also a need that requires special attention. Hence, special needs. I think Mr. Fishy doesn't get it that special needs covers everything from dialysis onboard to children with autism to someone needing a sharps container to those needing or wanting a vegan diet or Kosher food. This is only a sampling of things covered by special needs. All are a need that a passenger may have that are out of the ordinary and therefore "special". I don't think anyone in their right mind thinks that being an Orthodox Jew is a disease. I mean, really?:rolleyes:
