Miami on New Year’s Day

We are on one of the Vision of the Seas Cruises that’s getting re-routed to Miami from CocoCay. We will be there Jan 1st 2019. Anyone know what kind of transportation will be available from port? Also, any ideas on what family friendly places might be open during the day that are close to port on New Year’s Day?

Thanks!

There will be taxis at the port and you could use Uber.

It will be fairly quiet downtown. I like that.

You could walk around Bayside which is just over the bridge and about a five minute drive from the port. Another option is to go to South Beach about 15 minutes away and walk around. You have the beach and it would be a fun place for lunch.

Either are good options.

We have been in Miami several times over this time of year.

There will be lots of decorations from the holiday on display.

As Keith said, it will be fairly quiet in the downtown area. It’s a big day for late brunches for many locals so many restaurants are open.

All of the beaches are still open of course, Bayside will be open with the majority of stores still open. The boat tours and all of those things should be open. It’s a big time of the year here for tourism, so there will be things to do.

As it gets closer, there will be things written up as to what you can do for the day. Miami New Times, Thrillest and Time Out are great websites to check out things going on. Also google for New Year’s Day Miami and other pages will pop up.
