Just back from Escape. Questions?

I've posted my review on CC (might still be pending). Anyone have questions? I'll try my best to answer.

We did not make it to GSC. Waves weren't terrible, but apparently just bad enough. We sailed straight on to Nassau and arrived there at noonish. Did an overnight there.

P.S. I didn't save all my dailies, but I can upload the few I do have tomorrow (Tuesday).

How were the wines at the wine bar? (I hope you drink wine) I've heard They were "average"

I have all my dailies from last week, including the revised daily for our skipped GSC day/1/2 day in Nassau if anyone has questions.

Any chance you could post them here or a link to them? We are on the Escape in a few weeks and recent ones would be helpful. And it would be nice to see the skipped GSC one just in case. :) I understand if you can't though!

On the evening of the day you were supposed to be in GSC, do the dailies show in the on board Duty free shops and the casino were opened?

(I ask because they are usually closed while in port and reports are you went straight to Nassau. I save my Duty free shopping for the 2nd to last day of a cruise.)

What time was your scheduled arrival time on Embarkation Day and what time did they begin boarding?

Scheduled arrival was 11:30. We walked in at 11:45 (we usually do earlier, but took our time that day) and there was pretty much no line for check in. Group 4 was boarding. As Platinum, we were able to walk on.

Aside from one of the blind tasting classes (it was great!), I drank there twice. One cabernet that was very balanced (had two glasses) and one prosecco that was good. I'm not a wine snob (nor a schlub), but there were decent options by the glass. Think $12-20 bottle range at the store. Mondavi, Estancia, Blackstone were the bigger names. Lots I didn't recognize.

How crowded did the pool deck/ pools and lounging areas feel? Was the ship at full capacity?

The ship felt less crowded than previous cruises on the Escape. Lots of chairs still available around 10 a.m. Pretty crowded around noon. Upper sun deck and Spice H2O weren't as packed as usual, at least when I was there. A few colder days impacted that I'm sure.

When you skipped GSC and went straight to Nassau for overnight, were the Casino and on-board Duty free stores closed since you were in port that evening?

I was on the same sailing. I don't venture up to the stores very often so I have no idea if they opened the night we were docked in Nassau but the casino opened at 7 pm.

Good to know! I thought they could only open the casino in Bermuda but apparently Nassau/Bahamas allowed it.

That is the first time I've seen a report of going to Nassau right away if GSC gets missed. I wonder why that was - open spot at Nassau or something else?

There was only 2 other ships in port, and we were the 2nd to arrive along with the other NCL ship that skipped GSC. They left early the next day.

Casino was open in Nassau which I was surprised at, first time on a cruise in Nassau where that happened. Shops were closed though.

We are sailing in May and wondered if you can buy liquor at the duty-free shop and bring it back to the room. I called NCL today and they said yes, just want to confirm. Thanks!

I believe liquor purchased can be picked up the last night, not before.

edited to add clip from NCL.com

"Please note that with the exception of Wine and Champagne, all guests are prohibited from bringing alcohol on board our ships. If you purchase any alcohol at one of our ports-of-call or in our onboard shops, we will safely store your purchase(s) and either on the final night of the cruise or the morning of debarkation it will be available for pick up in a designated area."

Did you notice if their were any martini tastings on the dailies? We usually enjoy going to these.

Thank you!

Hm, no I didn't. Interesting, as I know those are a staple on other ships. In fact, martinis didn't seem to be a big thing anywhere like they are on other ships. I wonder if they were featured in the Cagney's or MIXX bars (by the MDRs).

I concur with Karl. You got bad info. Liquor purchased from the Duty Free shops is held until the last night of your cruise.
