Because I like to see where my food is cooked.

I get to check the kitchen for cleanliness.

I get a first hand look at food handling and food preparation.

I can ask culinary questions prior to the start of the cruise for recommended dishes.

Good way to meet the Head Chef and assistant cooks.

Do not miss the galley tour by golly.

Is there usually a charge for this tour?

Do they give this tour more than once on a cruise?

Is this where they sell you a cookbook at the end of the tour?

How the galley tour works varies by cruise line. But I have never heard of a fee for one.

As CruiserBruce mentioned for now it is free on all lines I am aware of.

Hopefully that will continue.

Lovely! This sounds like a wonderful experience! For some reason, we have never been a part of it! Think we will put this on our 'must do' list for our upcoming cruise! Thank you for bringing this to my attention!

Matter of personal taste. We thought the galley tour was boring.:)

Its interesting but on our last Eurodam Galley Tour, we were so rushed thru it we had no time to really talk to anyone or see all that much.

OP - In my estimation the Ultimate Ship Tour on Princess ships is by far the most important tour. It is pricey ($150 per person) but you receive almost that much worth of swag in addition to spending 3+ hours seeing the operations areas of the ship and meeting officers in each area (https://www.princess.com/news/backgrounders_and_fact_sheets/factsheet/Ultimate-Ship-Tour.html).

This is usually lots of fun too.
