Anyone have experience with either of the Hilton brands in Buenos Aires? There is a Hilton and a Curio Collection by Hilton. They don't appear too far apart on the map, but one in much cheaper,

Looking at late Jan. 2019, pre-cruise for a couple of nights.

The Hilton is located in Puerto Madero, the newest neighborhood in Buenos Aires. It is a perfectly fine business class hotel located not far from downtown. Plenty of bars and restaurants are found across the water and along the waterfront in a row of refurbished warehouses left over from the days when the area was a working dock. These are mostly upscale restaurants that cater to business people and tourists.

The Curio Collection is located on the main plaza in historic San Telmo. It is only a couple of miles from the Hilton but a million miles apart in terms of neighborhood. San Telmo is rich in history and the Sunday market brings out street entertainers and vendors of all sorts, from antiques to leather goods. Lots of cafes and bars are found along Defensa ave. Parts of San Telmo are dicey at night but the Curio is in one of the best areas of San Telmo.

I can also recommend the Hilton at Puerto Madero. It is a short walk over the river into the heart of the city. Lots of restaurants and nightlife nearby or just people watch as they walk along the river. The staff there was very helpful. The famous Argentine movie Nine Queens was filmed there shortly after the hotel opened up.
