Rare Acrusa Posted April 21, 2018 #1 Share Posted April 21, 2018 Booking an Amazon cruise. I have read we do not need a booster shot for yellow fever. Does Brazil requer the Shot? We are both over 70 and had the shot 15 years ago Sent from my SM-J320V using Forums mobile app
John Bull Posted April 21, 2018 #2 Share Posted April 21, 2018 When you had your shot your YF certificate was good for 10 years, but it's my understanding that the terms were relaxed a few years ago & that a shot is good for life. I'm 95% sure that the relaxation is retrospective & not because of any technical improvement at that time, but to be 100% sure you need to hear it from an official source & not from a barrack-room doctor. If I'm wrong about that, your age exempts you from a booster shot (exempts anyone of your age even if they've never had a shot) but you'd need the exemption certificate rather than any proof of age. sailco Posted April 21, 2018 #3 Share Posted April 21, 2018 I agree. They're now saying the Yellow Fever vaccination is good for life but I'd still ask a health professional due to the length of time since your initial vaccination.
