Why is QM2 still in NY

It's almost 8pm est the Queen Mary 2 is still docked in NY, are transatlantic crossings departures usually later than cruises? The Cunard site says 5:45pm departure.

Its still there. Could be waiting for delayed passengers.

She was probably late leaving because they had to file a report on the gentleman that was airlifted off near Norfolk? If that delayed her slightly or there was a plane that was delayed that had passengers who booked air through Cunard? That has happened to use twice on Princess and once on HAL>...

I was on board yesterday as a visitor and I was told by one of the crew that one of the network stations was filming a live program from Todd English and that was the cause of the delay.

When we arrived, we were told a "media event" was delaying departure until 8:45. We had the late dinner seating (8:30) so we were disappointed (to say the least) that we would not be on deck during departure. Little did we know at the time that we could have dined quickly in one of the other rest's. instead of the main one we were assigned to. We would not learn that until the next day.

Fortunately, our table had a window view and we had a great view of the Statue of Liberty as we sailed.

I wish we'd known earlier about the delay, though.
