Is Zuiderdam casino smoke free?

Seems to be a lack of clarity regarding casino smoking ban (or not) on Zuiderdam and Westerdam. I booked a cruise for next month on Zuiderdam when policy on HAL website said Eurodam, Oosterdam as well as Zuiderdam and Westerdam were smoke free. Now when I look it appears that Zuiderdam and Westerdam are not included in smoke free casino list when I go to page 16 of Q & A PDF on HAL website. Can anyone tell me from personal experience whether Zuiderdam casino is smoke free?

The last time I was on the Zuiderdam there was a smoking section in the casino.

June 2018 - no smoking.

Westerdam's casino was smoke free in April.

Now, if only they would ban smoking in the casino on Koningsdam! Wondering what will happen with Nieuw Statendam. It would be a shame to have smoking on a brand new beautiful ship.

Yes, Zuiderdam’s Casino is Smoke-Free since the remodel to Music Walk. We were on her in May, 2018.

July 2018 smoke-free.

Aug 2018-Only smoking area on entire ship is Lido Deck aft.

Yup, we were just on board, Aug/Sept. 2018. Just that one area on the starboard side, Lido Deck aft, by the pool. Unfortunately, smoke travels, so it was not confined to that side of the ship.

Westerdam's casino was smoke free in April.

April 12-23. Circle Hawaii casino WAS smoking.

April 12-29. Circle hawii casino was without argument smoking allowed on the Westerdam. 2018.

Zuiderdam November 2017 smoke free casino after the dry dock. Now I’m concerned about the Westerdam next year.

When we cruised on the brand new Koningsdam last year, we were stunned to find that smoking was allowed in the casino on a brand new ship! What were they thinking?

Perhaps they figured that they needed to attract as many gamblers as possible to this larger casino.

Super successful non smoking casinos by gaming industry giants are now operating in states (eg. Maryland) which ban casino smoking. I am a frequent player and will only sail on ships with non smoking casinos. Am currently on Zuiderdam and enjoying the non smoking casino.

This smoking/non-smoking policy is extremely confusing! We were on the Westerdam in Alaska from Seward to Vancouver in June. The casino was completely non-smoking. It is not true that ships need to allow smoking to fill the larger casinos, as Celebrity has been completely non-smoking for many years. No trouble packing the casinos. Very strong opinions on both sides of this issue. We will not gamble on a ship that allows smoking and applaud HAL for converting as their redesigned ships come out of drydock.

While I agree with you, remember that gamblers are very profitable to the cruise line. The money they make off of the smoking ones would buy alot of carpeting and drapes. My relative is a chain smoker and a big gambler, and she would not sail on a ship that has a non-smoking casino.

I wonder if it depends on where the ship is cruising. We will be on Westerdam in Asia next year and I am hoping the casino will be smoke free but as a lot of people still smoke in Asia, perhaps it will not. :(

Just back from our short cruise on the Nieuw Amsterdam. I am happy to report that it has a 100% smoke-free casino. On our last night, the casino was wall-to-wall people! And the dueling piano area was packed as well! The casino host said that the smoke-free change is happening on all HAL ships when the dueling pianos are located directly across from the casino, since there is no barrier to prevent smoke travel. :D I strongly agree with some that the casinos on Koningsdam and the Nieuw Statendam should also be made smoke-free, since you definitely have the smoke travel down the stairway from the casino to the music walk area.
