Upgrade Bidding -Is it available to all?

Can anyone advise if the upgrade email, message on NCL is offered to those booked in an inside Guarantee category IF, or is it only offered to those with chosen cabins?

We have booked 3 category BC Balconies and have the "lets get you upgraded" emails and notification on NCL, but none of these for the inside categories.

Thank you in anticipation of your responses

Just a quick reply - yes, even if you booked an Inside-GTY with no stateroom assigned (or, assigned): AFAIK, you are offered the Upgrade Advantage option (for Oceanview-GTY and/or Balcony-GTY) Also read that recently, UK cruisers are "in" for their participation to bid.

There is a big, ongoing thread about it ... lots of details & not all posts helpful, but devils hidden there.

I'm confused about your last Q - if you are booked now on 3 "BC" as balconies - you do NOT bid lower for Insides :p ... you are offered the option to bid HIGHER for Mini-Suites and/or higher. Inside categories usually are IX but IF can be GTY as the # of available might be very limited (and, you could possibly get bumped up higher for an Inside -ID, IC or IB, etc. )

Hi, Thanks for your very quick reply, we have total of 5 cabins for Christmas & NY B2B, 3 balconies category BC and 2 insiders category IF, insides for my grown up children, I was hoping to bid for Balcony upgrades for them. I can see the offer to upgrade on all the lattitude accounts for the Balconies but not the insides.

I am not bidding for the Balconies as I see little benefit of a mini suite, had one before and not worth the additional cost IMHO, for me that is - of course everyone has different perspectives, and no point in bidding for Haven if all our party are not in there.

Arrh, I see - got it ... my apology since the morning coffee hasn't kick in for me yet ;p

Holiday sailings are usually more challenging for any sort of upgrade - which ship is this for, have you look at the available inventory for balconies and/or even OV ?? (do a mock booking for new reservation on NCL dot com) ... as that should give you some idea. Assuming that you didn't used a TA in booking those 5 original cabins - perhaps make a call into NCL and see what the call center agents have to say ?? as I doubt that prices will be dropping

Otherwise, maybe wait a little longer & also re-check the email in-box to make sure it was diverted by the spam filters. Nowadays, everyone seemed to swear that they get the offer deal to bid at 80 days not, it was NOT always the case - back in April ... we received the bidding notice at about 50 something days out, decided to make them an offer & it wasn't accepted or upgraded until about 10 days out.

It is possible they are very tight on OV and Balcony cabins, so your inside booking may not get an upgrade offer. If they think they will only have 5 cabins POSSIBLY available for upgrade, they might not send out the notice to EVERYONE. Or maybe they are already oversold for balcony? Just a guess.

Keep checking.

We have 2 connecting inside cabins on the Breakaway. If we bid, will they keep the 2 rooms together or is it possible the 2 rooms will be no where near each other?

You could end up wherever, I wouldn't risk it if its important to be close.

They don't allow studio cabins to bid. I called to see about upgrading, I got a balcony for cheap. Then I got an email for the upgrade bidding within 24 hours. I bid $50($100 since I'm by myself) on a mini-suite, and it was accepted within another 24 hours. I'm a happy camper.

I don't know if it will be helpful in your situation as I can't see that the T&C of the Upgrade Advantage Program mentions anything about specific cabin categories being excluded from the bidding, but here is the link to the EU information regarding terms and conditions for upgrade bidding:

https://www.ncl.com/no/en/content/upgrade-advantage-terms

As noted, Studio cabins are not eligible for the program. Additionally, people who booked through non-participating TAs are not eligible for the program. Everyone else is eligible, but NCL does not guarantee that everyone will receive an offer to bid.
