Torshavn - Cabaret shows and tickets

A cruise critic article, mentioning unique things on many cruise lines, noted that for Viking tickets are needed for Torshavn "Cabaret shows" and "... you must get tickets for your preferred show date in advance, so heads up..."

Can anyone who has experienced this (our first Viking cruise is this December) provide additional Torshavn information?

How early can one learn about tickets required ..."preferred show dates" ?

When and where does one get the tickets "... in advance..." ?

Is there ever a show specific cost?

Are Tickets seat or location specific, or just admission for a specific time and date?

Any other useful information on this topic would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

There is no advanced/pre-sail ticketing for this. Shows and times will be announced on board in the daily bulletin and free tickets are on a first-come basis (there is no set schedule; each itinerary is different). If more people want to see the show, they may add additional dates and times. Torshavn is relatively small, unlike the theater which can seat all 900+ passengers, and to control the crowd, they issue tickets. Seats are not assigned; the ticket merely gets you in the door.

If you want to see it but don't have a ticket, people do change their mind, for whatever the reason so it might officially be 'Sold out' but you might still have a chance to catch it if you show up.

Tickets are distributed at the Explorer's desk. The show times and date on which tickets will become available are all described well in advance in the daily bulletin. When tickets become available, you simply go to the Explorer's desk and ask for tickets for a specific time and date. On our 14-15 day cruises, there were two different shows - one with the three person girl group and one with the three person boy group (or female/male if you prefer). Each show was performed three times. The Torshavn is a small cocktail lounge with big comfortable movable chairs. Front row seats will be literally 3-4 feet from the performers, who stand on the floor directly in front of the audience, with the 3-4 piece band using the stage behind them. In some shows, the performers pick someone in the front row to interact with just a bit. There are no bad seats. The shows last about 45 minutes.

I’d heard that they have a band for dancing in the Torshavn. Is this true or is it only for shows? We wouldn’t so much be interested in the shows.

Yes, they have live dance music in Torshavn from 9pm until midnight. The band does 45 minutes sets. They're also set up for recorded music which presume plays between the sets.
